Scott's obituary

Scott grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It was in Thunder Bay, that Scott entered the auto industry as an apprentice at the Stop‘n Steer. He did what he referred to as “time” in Saskatoon, before heading to Edmonton where he embarked on his NAPA journey. After a few years in Edmonton, NAPA opportunity and brilliant mentorship pulled him to Grande Prairie. By all accounts, including witness statements, documentation, and photographic evidence, Grande Prairie is where he met the love of his life, Katrina.

Trying new things, finding new music, sharing interesting experiences is what motivated Scott. The breadth of Scott’s interests and perception contributed to his rare ability to connect with anybody. Scott encouraged others to see things from different perspectives and open themselves up to passions and ideas so they too, could have lives enriched with humility, adventure, opportunity, and friendships beyond borders, lines, or definitions that might otherwise divide.

Scott and Katrina’s adventures brought them to the beautiful Kootenays in 2019, where Scott’s earliest days of fulfilling their business dreams, started with living in a van down by the river (at the KOA). Over the past 5 years, Scott cultivated relationships so meaningful and thoughtful, you would think they were forged decades ago. With the deepest and heaviest sorrow, Scott’s adventures ended while immersed in the greatest success, brightness, laughter, and love a person could ever hope to have. Scott was a person who emitted and elicited the best type of human energy from the day he was born.

Scott is survived by so many loved ones near and far, across decades, and probably from as recently as weeks ago. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Roger and Brenda Searson, sister Sandi (Mark), nieces Cali, Jordyn, and Ashlee, grand-nephew Holsten, mother-in-law Terry Demoline, father-in-law Fred Scaife, and many extended family members and cherished friends. Gone before him, most recently, one of his friends (and Katrina’s grandfather), Willard Demoline (February 2024), and the most magical beast, and Cheese Inspector, Pedro (December 2021).

A Celebration of Scott will be held at the Columbo Lodge, in Cranbrook, BC, on July 27th, 2024 from 1pm-4pm. A live-stream will be available from Mcpherson Funeral Services  https://mcphersonfh.com/72/Li… for those unable to attend. All who would like to attend as Scott is loved and remembered are welcome. Casual attire is encouraged. Consider wearing a favourite team jersey, a favourite band shirt, or something from a favourite trip or adventure, because that is something that Scott would for sure want to talk about. In a modified Viking Burial, Scott will be cremated before the celebration of his life and at a yet-to-be-determined, later date he will be sent to the water aboard a lit craft. There will be an opportunity for family, friends, or colleagues who wish to share during the Celebration of Scott, to do so; please email Leanna at leannaklingbeil@gmail.com and include your name, relationship to Scott so that you can be added to the program.
