Scott's obituary
Scott "Scotty" Eric Salmi, 45, of Sammamish, WA, passed away on May 29, 2024, due to a car accident. He was born in Seattle, Washington, to Synove and Kari Salmi on February 13, 1979. He was raised in Issaquah/Sammamish, Washington, where he lived most of his life; other than five years, the family lived in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
Scott was a huge animal lover. As a child, he was often found beside his “best friends,” the family dogs, Corky (a cockapoo) and Peaches (a golden retriever). He enjoyed fishing, cooking, camping, concerts, and monster truck shows. He also looked forward to his annual participation in the Gambler 500 in Oregon (an event that involves cleaning up trash while driving through outdoor areas). His musical tastes included everything from country to heavy metal.
Scott was known for his loyalty, thoughtfulness, a heart of gold, and his kindness to everyone. All who knew and loved him will miss his smile and infectious, goofy laugh.
Scott is survived by his wife, Joice Kakenya Barta; mother, Synove Salmi; sister, Jennifer Nilsen; brother, Tom Kristoffersen, and sister, Monika Samek, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, a great-nephew, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kari Salmi.
A celebration of life is being planned and details are to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal or veterans-related charities, both of which Scott was a huge supporter of.
