Scott's obituary

Scott Andrew Sabre, 60, a Director of Enterprise Technology at Valtech, passed away on Wednesday, April 8 at UT SouthWestern Hospital in Dallas after fighting brain cancer since September of 2025. This diagnosis came as a shock to everyone, but he approached the fight with his usual strength. Throughout the entire battle, even when he couldn’t speak as well anymore, he made sure to tell his family that he loved them. Scott was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend who positively impacted the lives of everyone he met. Scott was a White’s Chapel Methodist Church member. He loved his work and was passionate about traveling and adventuring with his wife and children. He was an incredible cook, from barbecue to lasagna to Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner and even breakfast and paper bag lunches daily for his family. He (begrudgingly) loved to work out with his wife, evolving to a tradition of running the Turkey Trot as a family each year. He was an incredible story teller and recounted stories like nobody else, with such enthusiasm and joy that it brought you right back to the moment.

Scott grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and went to Sandia Highschool, where he enjoyed spending time with his parents, causing mischief with his brother, playing basketball and goofing around with his friends. He moved to the DFW area after graduating from New Mexico State University to begin working at American Airlines. There, he met his wife, Monica, and quickly fell in love. They began as friends, going to the movies each week together and exploring Europe, Mexico, Hawaii and more. Over time, he swept her off her feet with his humor, looks and cooking. They built a life full of laughter, love and so much joy. They have three kids, who they raised on movies (a continuation of the tradition as friends), books, travel, respect for other cultures, an emphasis on imagination and true unconditional love. Even going so far as to bring their kids with them on each major anniversary trip to ensure it was a memory the five of them built together. And, throughout it all, he maintained a love for Albuquerque, the food and the mountains there. He would frequently travel back with his wife (and sometimes the whole family) even just to eat dinner at his favorite spots.

Scott is survived by his wife of 33 years, Monica Guevara-Sabre, his children Natalie, Sarah and Nicholas Sabre, his parents, Elaine and Randy Sabre and his brother Michael Sabre and his wife, Charla Sabre, and their children, Carson Bowman, Caylee and Kynlee Sabre and many other extended family members who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am at White’s Chapel Methodist Church, Southlake. Please send any flowers directly to the Grace Chapel at White’s Chapel Methodist Church.
