Scott's obituary
March 7, 1962 – July 17, 2025
Scott Lee Rigsby passed away peacefully at his residence in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 17, 2025. Born in Denver, Colorado on March 7, 1962, he was the beloved son of Murray Francis Rigsby and Joyce Elaine Cook Rigsby.
Scott was a proud graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, where he earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture. He also attended Aurora Central High School and was a member of the American Institute of Architects. A highly respected licensed architect in over ten states, Scott founded R. Design Collaborative in 2020, in addition to serving as Principal and Managing Principal/Director at various companies for over 20 years.
Scott was married to the love of his life and best friend, Elizabeth “Beth” Rigsby. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.
A man of many passions, Scott enjoyed golf (a lot!), fly fishing, playing many instruments, bluegrass music, bourbon, cigars, and beach trips. He was a loyal Houston Astros fan, a NASCAR enthusiast, and loved cheering on Tiger Woods. Family game nights—especially playing Polish Poker—were a cherished tradition. Scott’s larger-than-life personality was matched only by his love for his family, friends, and faith. He was a devoted parishioner at St. Matthew Catholic Church and will also be missed dearly by his dogs, Hattie, Winnie, and Lillie.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Beth Rigsby, and their children and their spouses: Jamie Todd (Brent), Andrew Ostrom (Julia), Abigail Foley (Alex), and Amanda Rigsby. He was the proud “Poppy” to grandchildren Jackson, Bentson, and Jameson Todd, and Everett and Oliver Ostrom. He is also survived by his siblings: Susan Rigsby-Stein and family, Steve Rigsby (Tammie) and family, and Stacy Boesel (Gary) and family.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104.
