Scott's obituary

We mourn the passing of Scott Redding, who was born on March 23, 1957, and departed from this life on August 21, 2024. Scott was an incredible individual, best described as an amazing father, steadfast in his care for animals and poised with compassion towards those who may not have always deserved it.

He is survived by his sons, Chris and Brandon Redding.  His father, Kenneth Redding, and his mother Thelma Shaffer preceded him in death.  He built a warm household revolving around his family, his love for his cats, and the lessons he wished to impart on his sons.  They will continue to pass on his teachings about being caring and loving, and the importance of treating people with the same caring love and respect.

Scott loved a gathering by cooking the best meals ever for him and his two sons.  He would make the best London Broil beef stew, chicken corn soup, and the best Thanksgiving turkey and ham you could imagine.  The atmosphere would be filled with his favorite music, tunes from The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Natalie Merchant, and Johnny Cash serenading the kitchen while he cooked.  He made some badass chocolate chip cookies too!

He was also a man of diverse interests.  His favorite sports team, the Philadelphia Eagles, gave him thrilling weekends.  He was a fan of TV shows like Star Trek, That 70’s Show, The Office, Seinfeld, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.  He found humor and joy in watching movies, notably favorites like Christmas Vacation and There's Something About Mary.  PORK AND BEANS!!!  Scott loved his games back in the day too, Zelda, Castlevania, and Batman on the original NES would often find him gleeful and excited.

Scott dedicated a considerable part of his life to advocacy work for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).  His love for animals was immense and his compassionate nature always shone brightly when he was with them.

His professional life was marked by his long-standing work at AMP (now Tyco Electronics), from where he had retired.  His favorite color was green, a shade that symbolized his love for life and vibrancy.  Scott's legacy lives on through his sons, through the lessons he taught them, and all the lives he touched with his extraordinary empathy.

Scott Redding will be deeply missed, not only by his sons but also by his beloved cats and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.  As we remember Scott, we honor his life, his love, and his indomitable spirit.
