Scott's obituary

Scott Fredrick Lewis of Emmett passed away December 7, 2022 at Trinity Health in Pontiac surrounded by his family, close friends and love. Born on January 10, 1958 to the late Herb & Mary Ellen Lewis. He is survived by his two daughters Jessica (Nickolas) & Morgan. Four siblings Herb (Deb), Jon (Barb), Russ (Janet), and Dorothy (Kurt). As well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Growing up in Livonia, Scott was introduced to those who would become his lifelong friends, graduating with the gang from Livonia Stevenson in 1976. After graduation he went to Denver Diesel and Automotive School in Colorado. Driving cross country with his buddies in his Honda, attending school during the week, hitting the mountains on the weekends and mastering breakfast by working in a local diner.

Upon completing his education he worked in automotives as a body shop manager. He married his young love, started a family, played recreational soccer - this group later became the “vacation crew” - and set roots on Big Lake in Davisburg for over 20 years. He worked hard and played harder - anything with a motor was not to be discriminated against - boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, etc. He loved all music - country not so much - dogs, hockey, golf, a “good story” and a “bad joke” that he could tell for hours. He genuinely loved people and believed in being kind to all. Setting the example of a little gratitude goes a long way.

A perfect day was “Getting up with the sun, playing 9 holes with James, picking up Scotty on the boat for a ski while the lake was calm like glass. Arriving back home to start breakfast as the family began to stir. Dragging the kids around all day on tubes - not before they were forced into skiing first, ‘tubing is for losers’ to end the day with cocktails, cooking dinner on the grill and enjoying a bonfire with neighbors.”

In 2018 he moved to “The Farm” in Emmett where he resided until his final days. Trying to get adjusted to retired life and a slower pace while enjoying being close to most of his siblings, nieces and nephews. In 2020 he made a road trip cross country to visit his daughters in California, something that had been on his bucket list since the early days of his time in CO. He drove his Camero across country making various stops along the way to visit national monuments and parks. Most shockingly, he came back with no speeding tickets.

There will not be a day that goes by when Cat Stevens plays and his voice doesn’t echo in our thoughts. The smell of BBQ takes us back to warm summer days or his infectious laugh is missed. In memory of Scott we’d ask for you to do something nice for someone else - pay a bill, buy a lottery ticket, leave a generous tip, tell a “good story” or “bad joke.” These small gestures of selflessness will honor his memory.

The family will be hosting a celebration of life on June 10th in Clarkston, MI.  We'd ask those who can attend to RSVP by May 15th, you can find details under "events."
