Scott L. Smith of Chandler, Arizona, formerly of Long Island, left this world on November 12, 2025. Born on June 13, 1969, Scott grew up with the kind of big heart people write about. If you needed the shirt off his back, he’d hand it over without hesitation, probably with a wisecrack to keep the moment from getting too serious. Scott was the kind of man who would drop everything to help someone, then pretend it was no big deal. He was at his happiest surrounded by friends or family with his beloved dog, Brooklyn, by his side.

He is survived by his daughter, Casey Smith; his mother, Patty Walsh, and stepfather, Alan Walsh; his father, Lee Smith; his brother, Judd Smith, sister-in-law, Darcy Smith; and his nephews, Aiden and Collin Smith. They, and countless friends he treated like family will miss his humor, his loyalty, and his heart that was somehow even bigger than his personality.

In lieu of a traditional funeral, the family will be hosting a celebration of Scott’s life this summer, exactly the kind of warm, easygoing gathering he would have preferred. Details will be shared in the coming months.

Scott leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and the reminder that life is better when you show up for the people you love.
