Scott's obituary

Scott "Scotty" David Garman, passed away on April 14, 2022 in Portland, OR at the age of 64. He will be remembered for his love of good art, good food, and good company.

He was born April 4, 1958 in Tacoma, WA to the union of Phyllis L. Garman and Earl H. Garman. Scott was the third of three children, Michael H. Garman and Lori (Drayton) Garman.

In 1976 he graduated from Foss High School where he cultivated a passion for photography. He could tell you about his Minolta XD-11, about depth of field, shutter speed, and development techniques like he was raised in a darkroom. His pride was a photo he took of Horsetail Falls with a disposable camera.

Scott moved to the Portland area in 1978 where he met his wife, and began a family. Throughout his career he worked in retail and believed in top quality service whether selling records or automotive parts. He was a lover of Portland’s local music scene and during the late 1990's he worked in the kitchen at The Green Room, a NW Portland bar and live music venue. Almost every summer he could be found attending the Waterfront Blues Festival.

Scott expressed love to his family and close friends through cooking. He had a talent for making any occasion feel special, whether it was a humble weekday dinner or catered celebration.

He is survived by his children, Kiera L. Kienle, Chelsea B. Garman, and Talya C. Garman. We will all miss him greatly.
