Sally's obituary

Sarah "Sally" Monahan passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 24, 2023 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born to Wendell and Blanche (Doty) Hinton on April 30, 1949, she grew up in Plainville, CT. A graduate of Plainville High School in 1967, Sally then went to nursing school and became an L.P.N. Sally dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for those within her sphere, her devotion best reflected in her work at Walnut Hill Convalescent Home in New Britain, CT. To her patients, Sally was not just a caregiver, but a companion, a confidante, and a dependable source of comfort. Her unwavering patience, kindness, and compassion left a lasting impact on each life that she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she served, and her influence will continue to be felt by the many lives she changed for the better.

She is survived by her son Derek Monahan and his wife Sarah DiVenere, her stepdaughter Kim Monahan Blanca and her husband Fernando Blanca, her stepdaughter Kelly Monahan-DiNoia and her husband Paul DiNoia and grandchildren Catherine and Dorothy Monahan, Elizabeth and Olivia Blanca, and Riley and Ryan DiNoia, all of Bristol, CT as well as her niece Victoria Cosgrove and her nephew Andrew Cosgrove. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward F. Monahan, her son Brian C. Gomes, and her sister Wendy Cosgrove.

In lieu of flowers, Sally's family kindly asks that donations be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund for Alzheimer's research. Those who wish may make a donation to the "Alzheimer's Fund - Support Research Cure", which can be reached at https://everloved.com/life-of…. This effort seeks to honor Sally's memory by supporting this cause.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 14 4:00-6:00 P.M. at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Avenue Bristol, CT 06010. A burial will follow on Tuesday, August 15 9:00 A.M. at West Cemetery, 180 North Washington Street Plainville, CT 06062.
