Sarah was hands down the best next door neighbor! She was always willing to do me a favor! Whether it was to get my mail, rent out their air b&b for free, check on my dogs, or meet me for coffee! She trusted my teenage girls to babysit Nolan and paid them way too much! I’ve never seen anyone suffer in such a graceful, selfless way. I always knew Sarah was special, but when I spent more time with her near the end of her life, I saw it even more clearly. I only wish I could’ve had more time. My heart breaks for you Ryan and Nolan. Please know we are always here for you. We continue to ask God to give you strength to endure. You loved her so well. 💛

Love Nicole (and family)

Sarah will always be in our hearts.  Nolan and Ryan you are in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs

Love,  Laurie and Jon

Sarah started off as my emplo…
2019, Scottsdale, AZ, USA

Sarah started off as my employee but quickly became a cherished friend. She was always kind and thoughtful and truly made my job easier. Sarah went out of her way to stay connected after I left PetSmart and made time to attend Ella's gymnastics meets some relatives wouldn't even do because they lasted up to 5 hours!

Sarah excelled at everything in her life and even though she wasn't sure motherhood was the right path for her, she embraced it fully and was truly amazing at it. The thing I admire most about Sarah was her independence and how she maintained her individuality after becoming a wife and a mother. She was SO smart, loving and beautiful and I'm truly so grateful she was my friend. She will leave a huge void in this world.

My heart is with Ryan, Nolan and the rest of Sarah's family and friends who will surely miss her vibrant and positive energy.

I met Sarah about 15 years ago and remember thinking this young woman seems wise beyond her years.  She appreciated the important things in life.  She lived passionately, selflessly and deliberately.  Sarah was devoted to family, especially motherhood, friends and furry animals. She was smart, talented and incredibly kind. Sarah brought us joy and will be missed by those who knew her.

Ryan and Nolan, it is hard to find words that might bring comfort to you now. We hope you remember how much we care and are praying every day for your strength. In time you will find peace and the sweet memories of love and time shared will fill your hearts always.

On behalf of everyone at Southwest Oasis Labrador Rescue (SOLR), I would like to extend our deepest condolences to Ryan, Nolan, and all of Sarah’s family and friends.

Sarah joined our rescue in August 2023 and quickly became an irreplaceable part of our community. She opened her heart and home to many young dogs and puppies, often taking in some of our sickest and most vulnerable litters. With patience and love, she nursed them back to health, helped them thrive, and ensured they found their way to happy, forever homes.

Sarah didn’t stop there—she generously mentored many new puppy fosters, sharing her knowledge and experience so that even more lives could be saved. When we were short on fosters, Sarah was always the first to say yes, often taking on an extra one, two, or more puppies until another foster could be found. Of course, she had a very special helper in Nolan, who was always by her side, caring for each puppy with love.

In addition to fostering, Sarah supported our work behind the scenes. She helped fellow volunteers edit, proofread, and publish our monthly newsletter—quiet but invaluable contributions that made a big impact.

Though I only had the chance to meet Sarah a few times, it was immediately clear that she was an extraordinary and kind soul. Everyone at SOLR echoes that feeling—we all knew just how special she was.

We are deeply honored and grateful that Sarah and her family chose to include our rescue as a beneficiary of donations in her memory. Her legacy of compassion lives on in every life she touched.

With heartfelt sympathy ~ Stacy LaFrance, SOLR Board of Directors

I met Sarah in 1997 when we joined Kappa Kappa Gamma at Iowa State.  She was studious, musical, and fun.  We moved together to Minneapolis after college, and later moved to Arizona together.  Along the way had many great adventures, roadtripping from northern Utah to Arizona, winning a trip in college to go to San Antonio for the weekend, and several trips to wine country.  I will miss her quick wit, her level headed personality, and her spontaneity.  She knows she was loved by so many, and I will miss her dearly.
