Sarah's obituary

On December 30, 2018, just days before her 62nd birthday, Sarah Denise Coleman passed away from advanced head and neck cancer at her home in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She had been suffering from aggressive symptoms related to the disease and its treatment for over half a year.

Denise was born in Memphis to parents Oliver and Margaret and was raised in Tennessee alongside brothers David and Kevin. From a young age, she excelled in and was enamored with music and literature and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tennessee. Denise flourished in the television industry for nearly two decades then returned to school to pursue a career in education. She is loved and missed by her children Oliver, Margaret and Robert in addition to the myriad of friends, lives, and communities she touched.

Even in sickness, Denise was a woman of unparalled beauty admired for her charasmatic personality and laconic wit. She was born strong-willed with an innate sense of self. When oppressed or challenged, her stubbornness piqued. When faced with the new and unknown, she was optimisticly determined and open-minded.

Denise was subject to health and interpersonal issues throughout her life; yet, despite her suffering, she relentlessly sought the world's inherent joy, humour and beauty. Ultimately, Denise wished to die on her own terms. Her sense of humor never faltered and she smiled through her pain and fear- in the end, her true beauty was revealed as courage and strength. And she found peace in this world.
