Jan's obituary

Janet “Jan” Lynn Imler was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 8, 1949 to Roma and Robert Regler and attended Lincoln Northeast High School. She began studying nursing shortly after. In March of 1973, she gave birth to her son, Zachariah Joe Weber. While working and mothering full-time, she went on to graduate with a BS in nursing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Together, Jan and Zach then traveled across the country where Jan finished her Masters in Nursing at the University of California in Bakersfield in 1992. A devoted mom, she followed Zach to Humboldt County, CA, working at a Hupa Reservation while he attended college. In 1996, after Zach graduated, she moved to Hawaii working at a cancer clinic. There, she met a gentle spirit and future husband, William (Bill) Imler. They were married in 1998 in Hawaii. They, too, traveled with their furry friends across the Pacific Ocean, from Hawaii to Humboldt County, then to El Dorado, California, finally settling in Poulsbo, Washington.

Jan loved her quiet life with Bill and their dogs, attending to her favorite hobbies—gardening, lunch and the casino, walking on the beach, spending time with friends, and texting or facetiming with her three granddaughters. She took pride in celebrating every one of her granddaughters’ accomplishments, watching every orchestra video, graduation, forensic practice, awards show, and karate move, sending window decorations for every holiday, comfort bears and blankets for every hurt, and seeds for every spring bloom.

Jan gave generously to all who knew her but especially to her son. It was she who played catch with him in the front yard when he was a boy. It was she who modeled the virtues of higher education and hard work, striving always to give him a better life. It was she, who with enough love for two parents, showed him the kind of honest love, commitment, and sacrifice that all great parents achieve. A North Star for him and his family, she will be deeply missed.

Jan passed away, Friday, March 8, 2024 with loved ones beside her. Jan is survived by her loving husband, Bill, her son Zach Weber (Sarada), her three granddaughters Tara, Niru, and Anu, her furry companion Lucky, and her beautiful friends who were there with her until the end--Marion, Dianna, Judy, Sandra, and Cate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and sister, Terri. The family will have a small, private celebration of life. Or if you would rather plant wildflowers in your own garden to remember her and her family, we would be honored.
