Sara's obituary
Sara was born on June 5th 1968 to Don Kelsheimer and Anne Barrow.
Sara and Daniel LaPointe were married at a friends’ rock quarry August 31st, 1991. They shared just shy of 31 years together and raised 3 children who are survived by Sara; Tara K., Forest L. and Elle CK.
They moved from Maine to Oregon in the late 90’s, where Sara and Dan built a home in Columbia County. Sara and her 4 siblings lost their own mother Anne to a car accident in 1999. Because of this, Sara took on the “grandmother” role for her siblings’ children as well as being a nurturing and loving grandmother to her own grandchildren Hazel and Kai.
Sara was an amazing cake artist, crafter and nature enthusiast. Sara’s compassion for all things living extended to vegetarianism and social justice work. Sara worked to help build a summer camp for foster children that is still running today. She loved the ocean, sunflowers and tie dye. Sara volunteered with her son Forest as a Fire Fighter in Columbia County, and would frequently go out of her way to help anyone in need. She believed very deeply in women’s rights, civil rights and fought for change throughout her life. Sara was Brave, Kind and Strong. She will be missed beyond measure, and the world is a better place because she was in it.
Sara is survived by her husband Dan; children Forest, Tara and Elle; 4 siblings, her father and her grandchildren Elliot, Bea, Joshua, Hazel and Kai. She is also survived by her best friend Sergio and many others whom she took into her world and treated like family.
Sara was buried in Herland Forest in Wahkiacus Washington where she will continue to enrich the environment by way of a Tree Grave. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to women’s rights causes, or a donation/volunteering with Herland Forest would be welcomed as well.
We Love You Sara. We will carry your lessons through life with us.
