Thinking and talking a lot about Sara in the last couple of days.  I so wish I could call her for advice.       I miss her.

I had brought Joan Collie and my mother out to the farm once. Joan who also from England knew precisely where Sara was from and lived. They talked for a long time. It had been the hottest day of the year.  Joan, who is 97 and always in sweaters, borrowed a sleeveless shirt from Sara that day.  I don't recall if we sent it back.  Joan had joined me for the online commemoration and brings up Sara from time to time.

When Joan returns from her visit to the beach, I'll ask her about the shirt and we'll sing Sara's praises.

Kindnesses to Jon, his kids and all of her dear friends.

I've literally just found this out. Sara was a holiday romance in La Manga summer 1989. I've never seen her since but knew what a big success she was through the power of google. I only knew her for two weeks but have never forgotten her. She gave me the rather embarrassing nickname 'Chocolate Box'. This is terribly sad. Condolences to all her friends and family who knew her way better than me.

I knew Sara because we were on the same Politics course at Durham. We were often lone women in shitty misogynist seminars and I thought she was great. When I reconnected with her years later I was so shocked to learn that she struggled at Durham as much as I had. I thought it was just me. To know that someone as cool and beautiful and vital as Sara felt the same was a kind of miracle. I am so sorry she is gone. She was completely wonderful.

This girl. Can't even believe the force of nature that is Sara is now a whirling dervish. I miss her.
Sara’s impact on my kids lives was incredible. I am so thankful I got to speak with her recently about how much of a difference she made in their lives and how deeply I appreciated the impact she had on things. From the moment she was involved everything was better. My kids and I miss her very much and talk of her often. She made their lives better and I am forever grateful to her. What reminds me of Sara is elegance and respect. She was a magical being in my book.

There was a terrible experience that flattened my dreams in late 2015.  I did just what I knew how to do - Go out and make something new happen!  I met Sara, and a few other wonderful women, that night. These ladies would help carry me and my dreams into a new existence.  I didn't have really any other legs to my table...I walked up to Sara and started the conversation. It was networking hour but she was alone, and after having just given us her wonderful time and energy on the mic, she was laughing about how everyone is afraid to talk to the speaker and it's a bummer and she was so happy I did!!  I really appreciate these kinds of open and inviting qualities in a person, especially a woman.  I had so many past experiences with women who were not comfortable with their power and they would just try to undermine every person, every step of their way.  I find it so rare to meet someone who authentically cares about others and who immediately can hold your space and container for you when you can not.  Sara was simply a ray of hope for me.  She totally allowed me to come from where ever it was I came, to claim whatever the fuck I wanted to claim, and to say and drive the course exactly as I needed and wanted to.   She gave me that universal permission to be my inherent badass self and not fucking care or worry about a thing along the way.  I needed that like a plant needs the sun and the water and soil and the wind.  It had been taken from me earlier in life, and I needed the nod.  I ended up taking her awesomely wonderful Master Class and learning some super great number skills for talking business and irreplaceable fund-raising skills so I can be my bossy-self freely!  I reached out to Sara many times for assistance and she heeded each call.  She always seemed to have that extra moment to take my question. I am so grateful for each and every bit of time we shared together and all of the hugs!  I have to say, that when I learned of Sara's passing out of this life, I felt an undeniable shift in universal energy, and a complete drenching of resonating vibes for days and days and days on end.  I was very happy to see that gorgeous moon rising on her 50th birthday.  It felt like a pathway to journey. The perfect opportunity to commune.  A reminder of an adventure worth taking. Sara is an endless source of inspiration for me!  I will always talk about Sara, and carry her with me, and share her gems!

Miri and I had Jon and Sara over for dinner this one time ... and photos ensued. Jon, see you in a couple hours for Sara's celebration of life ... Judging by most of the photos we have, it felt like every moment Sara lived was a celebration. That smile.....
That unforgettable smile.

My kid’s Rowan and Dylan were so blessed to have Sara in their lives. From the moment she entered the picture, she brought so much love and support. Always trying to make things better for us all. She had such a positive impact on them and I am just profoundly heart broken for them & Jon having her taken like this far too soon. I was always & will be forever in awe of her power, grace and wisdom & will try to carry that forward with me in memory and honor of her.
I met Sara & Leah for coffee just before they launched the Portland Women Grow chapter & we became fast friends. Her love of humans and dogs was beyond compare. She taught my feral pit bull how to walk on a leash in minutes. We stayed at each others homes, kayaked and cooked together. She taught me the secret to perfectly poached eggs and we will always refer to those double baked potatoes with rosemary "Sara's potatoes"
In response to "How did you first meet Sara?"
I was a student in one of her equity raising master classes and she completely educated me how to go from founder to CEO. She was truly an inspired educator and I am grateful to have had the chance to learn from her.

Join us for a virtual celebration of Sara's birthday this Sunday
I went to school with Sara more than 30 years ago in that hallowed vestige of British privilege, that was (and is) Cheltenham Ladies College. She weren't close friends (I just remember she played hockey and was always bubbly and smiling) - but having read about her life after school, I wish I known her better ...
Her sudden passing has me me think about my school mates and how many of them I didn't bother to get to know. I'm going to reach out and try and do so now. Thank you Sara for that small blessing.
It sounds like you were a blessing to all who knew you - sending love and hugs to all of Sara's friends and family at this saddest of times xxx

Sara was taking a month long vacation for the month of April to celebrate her 50th birthday. Part of her plan was to take her dog Ash to different cattle dog trainings and along the way visit friends. One afternoon I got this random text that came in as an email. I had no idea who it was. Finally, through Sara explaining, I figured it out and was thrilled to hear from her. Even more thrilled that she would be stopping by for a visit. Sara showed up at my doorstep with Ash, and a large 1979 trailer she was revamping. She arrived April 4 and ended up staying the night, which to my utter delight, turned into 5 night of laughter, stories, catching up, hiking, playing with our dogs and just ratting around doing nothing. Most memorable week I will have ever spent with a friend. She was planning to come back for my 60th b-day on April 17, and pick up some things she left behind. Sadly that never happened. I think one of my life's biggest blessings was getting to spend that week with Sara. What a treasure and remarkable woman she was.

We became acquainted through Women Grow and she and my husband Steven shared their Brit stories and rich heritage. We kept up with her life through social media and looked for stories whenever possible of this amazing creation! We had an imitate dinner with her and Jon at Henry’s place and she left an impression on us that day. We truly saw her as the smartest and wittiest woman we’d both encountered at the same time! How could we ever forget her? I remember when she nursed Jon back to health and know this has hit him hard with the loss of his beautiful love. We cherish her with him. So sorry to hear of her passing Rest In Peace dear sister 🙏🏽
