Santos's obituary

Santos Anthony Garcia, aka “The Babe” to his siblings, “Sanyo” to his friends, and “Pimpin’ Sanyo” to his nieces and nephews was born on July 5th, 1962, to Andrew and Angelina Garcia. He was the youngest of nine children. Santos was a bit spoiled by everyone and it surprised us all when he cut the apron strings. Santos grew up in the Mount Baker Neighborhood, where we still played outdoor games like kickball, street ball, relay races, soak ‘em, red light, green light or any other game we could make up. He also spent a lot of time at Mount Baker Beach swimming, playing in the sand, and just hanging out with his buddies.

Santos attended John Muir Elementary, Mercer Jr. High, and Franklin High School where he graduated in 1980. He had a love for nice things, jewelry, cars, clothing and furnishings. He enjoyed music, and dancing the cumbia, he liked being the life of the party. Santos grew up working as a roofer in the family business, “Andy’s Roofing” for several years until he decided to venture out.

In 2008 Santos was injured while working on the job. Santos’ life became a bit more difficult but with hard work, and determination, he was able to live a normal life with few limitations. It was at this time that he was reunited with his son Joseph Patrick “Joey” Romero.

Santos was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Angelina Garcia, and his brother Andrew Raymond Garcia. He is survived by his son Joseph Patrick Romero, his siblings Linda Bryant, Hope Paniagua, John Garcia, Frank Garcia, Cynthia Garcia, Pete Garcia and Gloria James, and several nieces and nephews.

Santos loved his nieces and nephews, he liked to spoil them by buying them fancy gifts, letting them drive his fancy cars (even without a license), giving them money, or telling them jokes, he liked being the cool uncle. Santos was loved by everyone and will be missed by all!
