Chuckey's obituary

Sandy (Chuckey) Smith, Jr., age 68, passed away in Paris, Texas, on May 23rd, 2023. He was born on July 16th, 1954, in Paris, Texas, to Sandy Smith, Sr., and Juanita Smith Johnson. Chuckey was a very wise and funny man who loved and was loved. He didn't meet a stranger; if he did, you gained a lifelong friend by the end of the interaction.

Chuckey served in the Army and Army Reserves and was a proud veteran. He worked at Campbell Soup for 35 years. Chuckey loved his Cowboys and enjoyed watching them play. He attended Gibbons Primary School and Paris High School.

Chuckey is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Smith; four daughters, Tawannia Simpson of Bedford, Texas, Tameca Johnson, La'Shomba Smith, Kimberley Smith (Christopher); his one and only son Effrin (Subrina) Smith; brother George Johnson, Sr. (Betty Jean), all of Paris, Texas; sister Christine Ellis (Bo) of Oklahoma City Ok; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

Chuckey was preceded in death by his father, Sandy Smith, Sr; mother, Juanita Smith Johnson; brothers Ray Smith and Robert Smith; sisters, Nell Marie Moore, Gladys Hill, Cynthellia Smith; and son-in-law Bryan Johnson.

The family of Sandy "Chuckey" Smith invites you to celebrate his life. The service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at 11 AM, at Paris Junior High, 2400 Jefferson Road, Paris, Texas 75460. Chaplain Kelvin Hicks will officiate the service.
