Sandy's obituary
Sandra (Sandy) L. Wenger
December 14, 1951 – April 10, 2025
Sandra (Sandy) L. Wenger, 73, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 10, 2025, of natural causes. Born on December 14, 1951, to Robert and Lillian Wenger, Sandy was a gentle soul with a fierce and generous heart—someone who loved without condition and lived with quiet grace.
Sandy’s love ran deep—for her family, for her friends, and especially for the many animals she welcomed into her life and heart. She had a gift for nurturing others, offering comfort, laughter, and understanding when it was needed most. Whether through a warm hug, a heartfelt conversation, or a perfectly timed note or gift, she gave freely of herself and expected nothing in return.
She was famously resourceful and endlessly creative, with an uncanny ability to fix or improve just about anything. At home and at work, she was lovingly known as “Handy Sandy”—always ready with a DIY solution, a clever hack, or a perfectly executed repair. Her ingenuity, much like her warmth, made the lives around her a little brighter and a lot easier.
Sandy found joy and freedom on the open water and on the open road. She loved boating and music, and she spent many weekends adventuring across Ohio in her beloved van, exploring lakes with her trusty boat in tow. Those trips were filled with sunshine, classic tunes, and the peaceful moments she cherished most.
She believed that life’s greatest purpose was to give away the gifts we’ve been given, and she did just that—every day, in ways big and small. Her love was steady, her presence comforting, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert (Bob) and Lillian (Lil) Wenger; her sister, Denise Melvin; and her brother, Robert (Bobby) Wenger. She is survived by her sister, Debbie Courson; her niece and nephews; and an extended family of cousins and friends who will always hold her memory close.
Sandy’s spirit will live on in the stories we share, the lives she touched, and the love she gave so freely. We will miss her fiercely, remember her fondly, and carry her with us always.
