Sandra's obituary

On August 30, 2023, Sandra Springer, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and so much more, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Sandra was born on September 13, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to parents, Fannie Elizabeth (Betty) Helms McMillian and Frank Sanfilippo. She raised two daughters in Shreveport, Louisiana and moved to Dallas, Texas in 1984 where she met her husband, Andy Springer. They retired and moved to Holly Lake Ranch, Texas in 2014.

Sandra grew up in Shreveport and attended Fair Park High School. Her professional career was spent as an Executive Secretary for oil and gas companies in Shreveport and law firms in Dallas. In 2016, she retired from the law firm of Fletcher, Farley, Shipman & Salinas after 24 years. For the past few years, she proudly worked on the Election Committee for Holly Lake Ranch. Her true passion, was raising her children and grandchildren, and embraced all that was involved. She loved spending her spare time sewing, scrapbooking and crafting. She was an amazing seamstress and made many talent show and Halloween costumes, as well as beautiful pageant dresses with lots of intricate beading. In the late 80’s, a couple of her gowns were even worn by the Miss Texas contestant in the Miss America pageant. She never met a person she would not go out of her way to help in any way she could. She was selfless and always put the needs of others before her own.

To know her was to love her, and if you were lucky enough, you might have received an elaborate door wreath for every season and holiday!

Sandra is survived by her husband, Andrew Witt Springer, III, two daughters, Donna Monk Walker (husband, Tal) and Alisa Monk Clover; five grandchildren, Hailee Clover, Hanna Walker Cothern (husband, Dominic), Garrett Edward Clover, Carmelle Nicole Walker and Jacob Chandler Clover (wife, Megan); and one great-grandchild, Brooks Chandler Clover. She is also survived by Andy’s immediate family who, after 35 years together, Sandra definitely considered her own; daughter, Shantel Springer and son, Andrew Witt Springer IV; grandchildren, Lauren Mickelle Coston and Blair Elizabeth Springer; two great-grandchildren, Eli William Springer and Ella Grace Springer. She was also blessed with two fur-babies, which never left her side or lap, Piper and Max.

She is preceded in death by her mother Betty McMillian, her stepfather, T. A. McMillian and her son-in-law, Kevin Lee Clover.

A memorial service and reception will be held at Holly Tree Bible Church, 1620 South FM 2869, Holly Lake Ranch, Texas at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 11th. There will be a short interment after the reception at the Holly Tree cemetery.

Sandra loved to be surrounded by beautiful flowers and living in Holly Lake Ranch. If preferred, memorials may be made to MMAD c/o Richard Herod, 211 Shady Pine Lane, Holly Lake Ranch, Texas 75765. MMAD (Men Making a Difference) is a Holly Lake Ranch community organization that helps those in need of work or repairs done around their house, that they are unable to do themselves.
