Sandra Pruitt, born on May 13, 1954 in South Bend, IN, to Edwin Lee Jones Sr. and Rev. Jessie L. Jones passed away on January 21, 2024. She was married to Carl H. Pruitt Sr. of South Bend, IN for 30 years, and was an excellent mother of 3 biological children and 4 bonus children. After serving in the United States Army, Sandra worked for the United States Postal Service where she made plenty of friends and was commended for her hard work until her retirement.

Sandra was a devout Christian and spent lots of time studying and listening to sermons. Her personality and spirit made her a joy for all to be around. She was a great mother and provider to her children and stepchildren leaving no stone unturned which included putting off her college graduation until she was 60 years old. Her mind was strong, and her intelligence level was one for the books. Speaking of books, her Bible, library, puzzle collection, board games, computers, and electronic gadgets were her escape. There wasn’t a place that she didn’t fit in, a puzzle that she couldn’t solve, and a game show that she couldn’t figure out the answers to.

Sandra leaves behind her husband, 2 youngest children, 3 stepchildren, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, daughter-in-love, son-in-law, and surviving sisters, brothers, sister-in-law, brother-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, special nurse Harmoni, and husky Tuxedo Teddy to cherish her memory. She joins her 2 sons, grandparents, parents, in-laws, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in rest.

May her soul rest in peace, May her legacy carry on.

The family has elected to respect Sandra’s wishes for a memorial service and balloon release.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and acts of kindness during this time. A special thanks to the caring staff at Elara Caring and Hospice, Goshen Hospice, Goshen Hospital, Majestic Care of Goshen, Elkhart General Hospital, Alick’s Medical Supplies, and Cruz Family Funeral Home for their phenomenal service and helping to coordinate her last wishes.
