Sandra's obituary

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the passing of Sandra Peralta, affectionately known as Sandy. She passed peacefully in her sleep on July 17, 2024 hand-in-hand with her love of 50 years, Bernardino "Ben" Peralta.

Sandra and Ben created a warm, loving home and raised two sons Samuel Cruz and Bernardino "Beanie" Peralta. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Mannino, and her brother, Gus Matamoros. Her legacy extends to a sprawling brood of both blood and found family, each of whom she cherished deeply.

A lively member of her community, Sandra contributed her time and effort as a volunteer at the Marion Oaks Democratic Club. Her dedication, compassionate presence, and liberal views enriched this civic organization and influenced many who had the pleasure to work alongside her.

With a keen eye for beauty and detail, Sandra's taste in art spanned different genres, some of her favorite artists being Frida Kahlo, Robert Wyland, and Salvador Dali. Her love of visual arts extended to her home, where meticulously curated art and horticulture brought every corner to life. As a flower child of the 60s, Sandra's love of music was contagious. Her children now listen to rock and roll greats like Led Zeppelin, Kansas, The Beatles, and Elton John, and think of the first time she played each for them.

Sandra's personality was a distinctive blend of being driven, smart, detail-oriented, and compassionate. She was liberal in her views, loving in her approach, and prioritized her family above all. She believed in living life with a passion for art, seeing it as an extension of her own existence. She also firmly believed in self-improvement and often shared these valuable lessons with those around her. Her greatest accomplishments include her children, her Bachelor's degree, and her dream retirement with her husband in Ocala, Florida. She also loved to engage in lively games of Scrabble and Mahjong, displaying her cleverness and strategic thinking.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Sandra will take place on September 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM EST at Sholom Park. Friends, family, and anyone whose life was touched by Sandra are welcome to join and pay tribute to the remarkable woman that she was. A west coast Celebration of Life will be following shortly after.

She will be dearly missed, remembered lovingly, and her lessons will continue to guide us. Sandra's spirit lives on in the love that she planted in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
