How you can help

From her sister Elena:

My family has been devastated by losing my big sister just 9 months after we lost my father. In addition to the remainder of his expenses, we are now covering her funeral arrangements as well.

My sister did not deserve what happened to her. She knew that we were still hurting from the loss of my father, and she wanted desperately to live. Although she fought and had moments of hope, her health declined rapidly within her last few hours. We had just begun talking about pre-planning the day before her passing. Her total focus had been on recovery.

She did not let go until she had seen / spoken to her family members one last time. In her last hours, she was assured that we would always remember her and take care of each other. I held her hand until her last breath.

Losing her happened so quickly and unexpectedly, and so soon after losing my father, that it left us in a tough place. Recovering after my father's death became manageable, but the loss of my big sister in the same year magnified our heartbreak and created a new set of issues to manage.

We are asking for help to cover the cost of direct cremation. Once received, her remains will then be interred via the All Souls Remembrance program at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery. This program allows for a free interment in a group crypt, but without any devotion to a particular decedent. This program has relieved us of the immediate worry of how to pay for a burial in addition to the cremation expense.

If any amount were received beyond the goal, it would be used towards planning for a permanent interment at a personal burial site.

Thank you for any and all consideration.
