Sandra (Sandy) Lee McCarthy, age 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday evening, September 2, 2024.

Mom, Grama, Grama Sandy, Sandy was born on April 10, 1953 in Muskegon. Sandy was the daughter of the late Robert and Pearl Bisson.

Sandy was a well-loved woman who was able to make and fix anything, had everything (including the kitchen sink), and could make the best brownies in the whole world according to her grandchildren.

Snooker’s Park, Sandy’s backyard, was the place most could find Sandy on any given day. She created a magical and loved area, where her hummingbirds, flowers, grandchildren, and any other living creature could be happy. She took care of everyone and everything, right down to the squirrels and chipmunks that made her crazy.

As a professional bus driver, Sandy served the students of Muskegon Public Schools for many years as a friendly face first thing in the morning on the school bus.

Sandy was a dedicated member of the Fruitport Eagles, where she was named Honorary Mother of the Year in 2024.

Sandy will be thought of daily by her surviving sons, Ron (Wendy) Olsen and Randy (Courtney Schaub-Olsen) Olsen. She will be missed by her four grandchildren, Megan, Quinton, Cohen, Miles and her step-grandson Dustin (Nicole and son, Ryder) Schumaker. She will continue to be loved and thought of by her siblings, sister Linda Wilburn, her brothers Tom (Lucy) Bisson, Bill (Janet) Bisson, and Larry (Deb) Bisson. Sandy’s absence will be felt by all the members of her family and so very many friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Bisson, her parents Robert and Pearl Bisson, the love of her life Dan Snook, and her husband Frank McCarthy.

Sandy’s time with us was, and always will be, loved and cherished. She will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Sandy’s honor on September 15, 2024 at the Fruitport Eagles from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
