Sandy's obituary

Sandra Lee Manjura, nee Raus, known affectionately to all as Sandy, brought an infectious energy to the world that could light up even the dullest of HR meetings. Born on February 20, 1964, in the humble town of Bedford, OH, Sandy's zest for life never knew the bounds of her small-town beginnings. On December 8, 2025, in Cleveland, OH, after a brief illness, Sandy took her final bow, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant and enduring as her favorite Iron Maiden anthems.

Sandy's early years were shaped by the loving influence of her parents, Robert L. Raus and Pauline F. Raus, as well as her brother Rickey L. Raus, all of whom predeceased her. Their memory was a guiding light in her life, and their absence is now a poignant silence in the melody of her story. Yet, Sandy's music plays on through her long-time partner, Scott Oddo, who stood by her side as her rock and roll soulmate, and her elder siblings Robert Raus [Shauna], Paula Dorsey [Terry], and Randy Raus [Monica], who harmonized with her through life's highs and lows.

Sandy was the cool aunt, the one who would sneak you an extra cookie when no one was looking, and teach you the air guitar when your parents weren't home. Her nephew Ryland [Jenna] and great-niece Violet Raus knew this best, as did her tribe of five nephews and five nieces, who will carry on her spirit of mischief and kindness.

She was a Brecksville Broadview Heights High School graduate who turned the page and wrote her own success story. Sandy made her mark in the HR world, first at Casnet and then as the Director of Human Resources/Employee Engagement at LeafFilter. She wasn't just about policies and payrolls; she was the heart of her workplace, ensuring everyone felt like a rockstar on their own stage. Her tenure as Vice-President and President of the Akron chapter of SHRM was less of a role and more of a performance, culminating in a standing ovation as the chair of the Ohio SHRM Conference in 2015.

Outside the office, Sandy was a symphony of interests. She was the queen of the poolside, lounging in her flip-flops, and the first to hit the dance floor when 'Run to the Hills' came on. She and Scott both shared a love of travel, visits to casinos and golf with Sandy achieving two holes-in-one to her name.

Her gym buddies knew her as the powerhouse who still holds the record at LCP with the longest plank-12 minutes!! That was an epic day and a true test of her will. But above all, her joy came from the simple things: Scott's company, Cali's wagging tail, and the embrace of family and friends.

Sandy's life was a masterclass in passion, kindness, and friendliness, a true testament to living fully and loving fiercely. Her laughter was a melody that will echo forever in the halls of our memories, her encouragement a chorus that will continue to inspire. Sandy may have left the stage, but her spotlight will never dim. She will be deeply missed, but take comfort in knowing that every time you flip a burger at the family cookout or raise a lighter at a concert, you're keeping a piece of her spirit alive.

Rock on, Sandy. Your encore will be the stories we share and the smiles we wear whenever we think of you. Your legacy is not just in the lives you've touched, but in the laughter, you've left behind.

A memorial service will be held January 31st at Acker-Moore Memorial Post. For more information please contact us at sandymmemorial@gmail.com.
