Sandra's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sandra 'Sandi' Hockenberry on July 6, 2023. Born on January 3, 1951, she lived a vibrant life full of love, passion, and dedication. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sandi touched the lives of many with her infectious smile and caring nature.
She is survived by her loving husband Ronald Hockenberry whom she married in 1975, her devoted children Sara Berryman, Joshua Hockenberry, and Jonathan Berryman, and her cherished grandchildren Hailey, Danielle, Deanna, and Rin. She will also be deeply missed by her daughter-in-law Suzy Hockenberry, her brothers Mark and Jack Schroeder, her sisters-in-law Lisa and Mary Jane Schroeder, along with a large circle of family and friends.
She was predeceased by her father John Schroeder, and her mother Ester Weaver.
Sandi moved to Florida in 1988 and began a rewarding career at Tabernacle Baptist Church / Heritage Preparatory School in 1989. She was a faithful attendee at Tabernacle Baptist Church and found great joy in her faith.
Among her many interests, Sandi loved following the Pittsburgh Steelers, watching her favorite movie, Armageddon, and filling her home with the beautiful sounds of her favorite music, Amazing Grace. She was a gifted crocheter and her beautiful pieces are cherished tokens of her creativity. One of her greatest accomplishments was becoming a grandmother, a role she embraced with all her heart. She was very talkative and loved engaging with her friends and the children she taught.
Sandi's legacy is reflected in her love for teaching and her deep affection for her students. Her love extended to the animal kingdom and she had a special spot in her heart for her loyal chihuahua, Tuffy.
She was known for her vibrant personality and her favorite color, red, was a testament to her fiery spirit. Sandi's memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sandi, your love and laughter will continue to echo in our hearts. We bid you farewell until we meet again.
