Sandra Dianne (Miles) West, 73, of Miami, FL, died of November 13, 2024. Born in Miami, FL, Sandra was the daughter of Jeffy Lee and B. Pearl (Jenkins) Miles. A graduate of Miami Northwestern High School c/o 1969. Sandra West was a dedicated and passionate elementary school teacher who inspired countless young minds during her career at Miami Shores Elementary School. Her exceptional ability to connect with her students and make learning both engaging and meaningful earned her the admiration of colleagues, parents, and students alike. Sandra's unwavering commitment to excellence in education was recognized with three nominations for Teacher of the Year, a testament to her skill, creativity, and the profound impact she had on her school community. Her legacy as a nurturing and innovative educator will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sandra was a devoted mother to Rashida, Tarik (December), and Tamara. She was the seventh of nine cherished siblings, survived by her sister Emma "Pat" (Miles) Wheeler (Jack). Sandra had 6 beautiful grandchildren: Alexis, Obed, Xyia, Nhalani, Preston, and Othniel. Sandra had a host of nieces, nephews, family, church family, and friends that she loved with love of Christ.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to our Dad, Lester and our Stepmother Teresa West, for being there for us and being a shoulder to cry on. Our Aunt Desirae Armstrong and Deacon Early Thomas, close family friend, for their help towards our family as we mourn our loss.
As we celebrate her incredible life and the legacy she leaves behind, we invite you to honor her memory in a meaningful way. In lieu of flowers, we ask for your kind support through a monetary gift. Your generosity will help us honor her life with the dignity and grace she deserves, ensuring her final arrangements reflect the love and respect she inspired in all who knew her.
