Sunny's obituary

Sunny Bailey, the pure definition of loving kindness and service to others, left an indelible mark on anyone fortunate enough to call her family, friend or anyone who walked through the door at her beloved Historic Naylor Hall. Her life and legacy are a testament to the power of love, relationships, and selfless dedication.

Born on June 24, 1963, Sunny attended high school in Seymour, TN  and after graduating from the University of Tennessee she moved to Atlanta. In 1999, she joined hands in marriage with her beloved husband, Dave Bailey, and together they welcomed their adored son, Carrson, in 2002. Sunny, Dave & Carrson thrived in their tight knit neighborhood in Sandy Springs.

Sunny's leadership blossomed when she began the role of General Manager at Historic Naylor Hall in Roswell, Georgia. She often told the story of how the very first day she entered Naylor's foyer, she felt an instantaneous connection, knowing there were magical forces at work to make this home a part of her destiny and she of its. She would be trusted as its charge preserving its history, beauty, and mission of gathering people to celebrate events dedicated to life and love.

In 2009, her dream became a reality when she and her husband purchased the very venue she had poured her love into. Over 33 years, Sunny orchestrated more than 3000 weddings and receptions, infusing each event with her unique touch of grace and warmth. Naylor Hall saw the benefit of many updates and renovations all infused with Sunny’s style & taste, but even more important to her were the people she worked alongside and called her “Naylor Family.” Each team member, vendor, and neighbor were blessed to receive her blend of love, support, and sage advice - just ask any of her ‘Chair Boys’ about her 5 Rules for a Successful Life.

Her own three boys were her pride and joy: her husband Dave, her son Carrson, and her faithful yellow Lab, Hondo, who she truly saw as a gift from God. Sunny's roots extended deep into her childhood in Tennessee, where her parents, Don & Jean, and brothers, Donnie & Joe, formed her unshakable foundation for loyalty and kindness.

Sunny’s "Girlfriends" shared a legendary bond that transcended time, celebrating life's joys, or really any reason to celebrate with extraordinary enthusiasm, only exceeded by their love and support for one another.

Her love affair with the ocean dates to her childhood, but it reached critical mass when she was able to go sailing with friends in the Virgin Islands. She realized one of her big dreams in 2020 when she and her husband were able to purchase a beach condo in St. Augustine and share it with family and friends.

The connections she had with brides truly showcased her incredible heart. These brides became an extended family, many returning decades later to relive the cherished memories from their wedding.

Loving kindness is often spoken of, yet Sunny Bailey breathed life into those words every day. Her existence was one of living large, loving big, and giving bigger. She lived purposefully and served selflessly.

May her life and legacy be a reminder that a life lived with a grateful and giving heart touches people’s lives and forever impacts them in ways that words can never truly express. Sunny, your bright light will forever shine in our hearts.
