Sandra (Sandy) Kathryn Arledge was born on January 24, 1947 as the fourth of six children to Henry and Josephine Ruzicka. She graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her dad famously stood up and yelled, "That's my daughter!" when she won homecoming queen.
