Sandie's obituary
On May 3rd 1945 Sandie was welcomed into the world by her parents, John and Florence Glanfield in Essex, England, who celebrated her birth with their two older daughters, Jackie and Sheila. Sandie grew up in Essex, riding horses and biking, mucking about on small boats, and enjoying the local pubs.
Sandie married the man of her dreams, Reginald William Perkins, on September 9th 1968 and in December of that year they immigrated to Canada (Vancouver, British Columbia) to begin a new adventure together.
Sandie was the matriarch of an amazing blended family. She is survived by her daughter, Allie (Duncan) Wojtaszek, her grandchildren Wesley Smyth, Raven Smyth, Teresa Smyth and Kyle Smyth, son in laws Mark (Val) Smyth and Patrick (Lynn) Smyth, her brother in law Tony Bradstreet, her sister in law Violet Bentley, and her nieces and nephews Denise Meyer, Todd (Val) Meyer, Jessica (Darnel) Meyer, Ivy Meyer, Lynda (Norman) Rhodes, Kim Rhodes, Chrissie (John) Rhodes-Dennis, Carole (Francis) Bradstreet, James (Lorraine) Bradstreet, Sam Dennis, Max Dennis, Priya Bradstreet, Harri Bradstreet and Sami Bradstreet. Sandie is also survived by many close friends who became like family to her.
After 14 years of being apart, Sandie is now joyously reunited with the love of her life, Reginald Perkins, who preceded her in death on May 24th 2004. Sandie is also predeceased by her son Christopher Perkins, her parents John and Florence (Prätor) Glanfield, her sisters Jackie (Glanfield) Bradstreet and Sheila (Glanfield) Horton, her brother in laws Charlie Horton, Ronald Perkins, Len Bentley, her sister in law Gladys (Dipple) Perkins, and her niece Hazel Horton.
Sandie loved reading (mainly Stephen King), enjoyed watching westerns (mainly John Wayne) and couldn’t miss her stories on TV (mainly Coronation Street). She was an avid Trekkie whose bucket list included a trip to Vulcan, Alberta. Every year she enjoyed watching the Calgary Stampede Parade from the balcony of her apartment. She missed her husband and thought of him everyday. She was suitably annoyed by doctor appointments and tests. But above all else, Sandie loved and adored her grandchildren, whom she spoiled without complaint, and whom were undoubtedly the crowning glory of her life.
In accordance with Sandie’s last wishes a memorial tea in celebration of her life will be held the Highland Park Community Hall (716 2 St NW, Calgary, AB T2K 0Y4) at 12:30pm on December 28th 2018. Immediately afterwards her ashes will be spread together with those of her husband at the Queen’s Park Cemetery Scattering Garden (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB T2M 3A6).

We would like to extend our appreciation and special thanks to Dr. Mary Noiles, the Rockyview General Hospital, Calgary EMS, and all of the staff at the Sarcee Hospice Centre, for showing great compassion in caring for Sandie in her final days and helping to make her final transition peaceful.
