Samuel's obituary
Samuel James Lavelle Thomas was born March 31, 2014. He gained his wings January 31, 2025, in his home in Sebring, Florida alongside his father (James Thomas) and mother (Tracey Thomas).
Samuel was loved by so many. He began school in Peyton, Colorado before moving to Cracker Trail Elementary in Sebring, Florida. At ten years old, Samuel had a passion for Five Nights at Freddy’s, airplanes, snow and extreme weather events such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornados. He often used his homework as sketchbooks to create visuals of the things he loved because for Samuel, “school was boring.” He had recently begun developing his taste for music and could be found dancing along to his favorite songs.
Samuel was a miracle to his family. He brought so much joy to this world. His goofy sense of humor came easily—something he inherited from his father. His ability to touch the lives of those around him came from both parents, each of whom had long, commendable careers as public servants. He was a handsome boy who was wise beyond his years.
Samuel is survived by his brother Steven (Alexis) Mibert; sisters Danielle (Allan) Cano and Tiffany (Seth) Bell; grandmother Sarah Cook; nieces Annalise Mibert and Alliannah Bell; nephews Colin, Clyde, and Camron Campbell as well as Seth Jr. “SJ” and Blake Bell; aunts Opal Black and Terri (Ron) Mahsem; and uncles Gary (Rita) Smith and Samuel (Dorothy) Broyles.
Samuel is preceded in death by his father James Allen Thomas, mother Tracey Lee Thomas (Smith), and aunt, Tammy Pugh (Smith).
Samuel’s celebration of life services will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, from 10:30am to 12:30pm at the COS City Hub, 4304 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
