To hear that one of my favorite teachers had passed away is devestating and heart breaking. He could always put a smile on my face and make me laugh no matter the day I was having. I knew going into his class everyday, that it was always gonna be a fun time.

He helped me excel at history more than any teacher I have had. He was always patient with me when I didn't understand something. He would always go out of his way to help me understand in his own funny way. I don't remember much from my time at dilworth. But I do remember his class the most.

He left a lasting impression on me that will stick with me my entire life. He was an amazing teacher and an even more amazing person. He was a light that shined brightly in everyone's world including mine. I hope you rest in piece Mr. Reynolds. You will be missed.

Missing Sam and his beautiful smile.

Looking back on his early childhood where he was like a 4th Son to me… I remember the day the four boys had just gotten their hair buzzed in the backyard and were posing for a photo. Their plan was to look tough. But of course, Sam couldn’t help but smile and watch his buddies. This has been a favorite picture in our Family

On a camping trip, Julie and I got a kick out of watching the boys head up a hill on a hike. The McGill boys were moving at a certain pace, and we’d wait and wait, and then finally Sam would pop into view bringing up the rear of the group. Months later, we discovered what would really get Sam moving – a Halloween Costume and Trick or Treat Bag!

Sam was so fortunate to have Julie for his loving, attentive, fun-loving Mom. Our hearts break for you and yours Julie.

Love,

Sandy and Ron Haslem

Sam,

Looking back, it was such a blessing that you were able to gather for dinner with us~your family of cousins, just three months prior to your passing.

What an enjoyable & special evening!

We will forever hold those memories close to our hearts.

We know your Gramma Jackie, Grampa Andy, and many aunts & uncles, were thrilled to see your beautiful smile light up the Heavens when you joined them.

Our love, Greg & Tamara, Randy, Nellie.

Sam a life with purpose

As I read your obituary there is common thread. You lived your life with purpose. You squeezed everything out of your life you could. You gave of yourself to your students, family and friends without an expectation of return. Your life was cut way too short but you did your best to live it to the fullest. We are all honored to have been a part of that wonderful journey. The Huttons

Julie, I am so sorry to hear about Sam's passing... such a young, vibrant life cut short way too soon... in my eyes, I see him as a young boy, with a big infectious smile and so much energy! I believe it is that energy will stay with you and those closest to him forever.  He was a gift! I love you my sweet friend and have my arms around you...  Marisa
Sam gave me my radio nickname…
2009, KRZQ Studio
Sam gave me my radio nickname and continued to call me by it years after I left radio. I can still hear him yelling “Ralphiiiieeeee!”
Sam was such a special person, and I feel incredibly grateful to have known him. My heart is with his mom, Julie, with whom I’ve remained in touch with since meeting Sam in over 10 years ago. We recently reconnected after bumping into each other in town, and Sam continued to reach out with music recommendations and words of encouragement. I’ll truly miss his friendship, his sense of humor, and the thoughtful, sweet nature that made him so unique. His loss is profoundly felt.-He sent me this song two weeks before he passed away, and it is so characteristically "him": Live That Way Forever (From The Iron Claw Original Soundtrack) by Richard Reed Parry
