I was devastated to say the least when I heard the news of Sam's passing that day. Not only is he my best friends husband, but truly a kind soul! Me being the luckiest mutual friend they both talked with, about each other, when their relationship began to blossom, I have always consider it an honor. Sam truly was one of a kind. Very funny! He could make you smile or laugh at the drop of a dime, but he couldn't hear a dime drop! Lol Or much else for that matter unless you yelled it at him, which often led to the many "huhs" throughout most relationships with him. But what I wouldn't do to hear another "huh" or "whadya say hun" from him again! Working for the Post Office, especially around those machines for so many years, really did a number on him, mind and body... but somehow his spirit (toward his employees)  and those of us he called his friends, never waned.  Sam was a loving man! Over the last 30+ years, he's never greeted me without a hug, kiss on the cheek and a "how ya doing hun?" Always open arms no matter our shared pain levels. Whenever I walked in the door... "ya hungry? I just made (usually something delicious).... help yourself, there's plenty!" Had a knack for always making people feel welcome and loved! Speaking of loved... I have enjoyed seeing and experiencing the love he showed for his children. All 6 of them, Sammy, Shannon, Beth, Heather, Sabrina and Tyler.  I always looked at it as The Brady Bunch he willingly signed up for! The many times of watching games at the house and family parties and holidays, makes you realize how much more they meant when you loose someone you love! He even made my kid feel like part of the family. Leona being her Godmother, Sam stepped right in and attended Courtney's sporting events just like he did for his own kids. I will forever be grateful to him and Leona for opening their home to her, for her to call her own also. That's  I've enjoyed about Sam over the years... I could write for days. Most of all I feel blessed to have been able to have a relationship with him and enjoyed his company on so many occasions!! I truly do miss him so much but I am also so thankful that his passing was peaceful and he no longer is in any pain!! We love and miss you so much it hurts! 😭 RIP my friend until we meet again! 💙
Sam was a good man who took the time and had the patience to teach me many things.  Skiing on the mountains of Vermont and Pennsylvania, golfing on the courses of Baltimore and Myrtle Beach, and how to parallel park on curved neighborhood streets (on the first try).   He is missed and those who knew him have my deepest sympathies for their loss.
