Samuel's obituary

Samuel Byrd Jr. was born in Claxton, GA on October 1, 1956, to the late Samuel Byrd and Carrie Byrd. He graduated from Claxton High School and worked in the Food Services industry for most of his life. He worked many years at the County Jail in Newark, NJ, Smithfield Foods in Tarheels, NC, and Mountaire Farms of NC in Robeson County.

Samuel met the love of his life Louise Martin in 1997, and they became husband and wife in 2004. Soon after they relocated to Fayetteville, NC and began attending Covenant Love Church where Samuel gave his life to Christ, got baptized, and served as an usher for many years.

In the succeeding years, he became a member of Deliverance Jesus is Coming Victory Center, Inc in Hope Mills, NC where he served as a deacon, and Fairmount Community Mission in Fayetteville, NC.

Samuel was known for being kindhearted and he will forever be remembered for his lightheartedness and ability to make those around him laugh! His legacy will live on through his loving wife Louise Byrd, beautiful daughter Crystal Boggs (husband Kentae Boggs), and stepchildren Frederick Martin Jr., Kevin Martin, Letha Martin, and Jacquelyn Wilson (husband Justin Wilson).

He will be missed by his siblings Sarah Byrd, Samantha Byrd, Melrose Byrd, Gregory Byrd, Walter Byrd, and in-laws Josephine Fuller, Ula Porter, Elijah Porter, and the late Ruby Gray, David Rahim, and Denise Rahim.

He loved his grandchildren Hannah Boggs, Noah Boggs, Jasmine Martin, Quadia Watson, Daziya Rosebure, Sharief Stevens, Lonnice Martin, Justus Martin, Samuel Martin, Freedom Martin, Hope Martin, Kiyon Martin, Safiyah Martin, and Qe’von Martin.

He leave behind his godson Jahquan Porter, and several close friends of many years: Keith Murray, James McClain, Larry Moore, and Earl McDuffie. He also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
