Samuel's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Samuel "Bub" Bowman, who left us too soon on July 11, 2025. Born on March 15, 1993, as Neil, was a beacon of light in the lives of everyone who knew him. Known to all as Bub, he exemplified strength, acceptance, compassion, and integrity throughout his life.
Samuel spent many years residing in Columbia City, IN, then returned to Phoenix for a short time, until moving to Cottonwood, CA, in 2015. He was known not only for his bright personality but also for being a loving son, a beloved brother, a caring uncle, a proud son-in-law, a dedicated brother-in-law, and a devoted partner to Tyler Murrill.
He leaves behind his mother, Evelyn Rego, his father, David Rego, his siblings, Robert, Amber/Gabbie and Kristian Rego. His nephews, Malachi, Jonathan and Eric, and his nieces, Shae and Rae will deeply miss their Uncle Bubby. He also leaves behind his parents-in-law, Carrie & Rick Murrill and extended family.
Beyond his family, Samuel was an individual of diverse interests. An ardent reader, he found pleasure in the books of Harlan Coben. His musical taste was equally diverse, with a fondness for My Hero by the Foo Fighters, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, and a multitude of other artists. He was also an admirer of Van Gogh's artworks, a fan of UFC/Mixed Martial Arts and The Chargers football team, and enjoyed playing games like Left-Right-Center, cards, and console games on Nintendo and PlayStation.
Passionate about nature, Samuel's favorite recreational activities included spending time with family, friends, and animals, hiking, lifting weights and wrestling. He loved vacationing in places such as Rim Rock Ranch, outdoors – or 'Zee Vild' as he fondly called it, and Las Vegas to see the UFC fights. Samuel's predilection for purple was a testament to his passion for child abuse prevention. He also championed causes like cancer prevention and ALS awareness.
Samuel' life can be best encapsulated by his own words, "To be loving and understanding to others because you never know the path someone has walked." His loss leaves a void in our hearts, and his legacy of love, understanding, and compassion will carry on.
Indeed, as in Good Will Hunting, one of Samuel's favorite films, "The world is not poorer without you in it." In his memory, let us strive to be a little more like Samuel every day, as he was, quite simply, a good man.
