Personal note from Billie Garrow

"She was the best of us" is such a good description of Sally, the most kind, loving, funny person we've ever had in our lives. We lived just a few doors away when the MacTools truck went crazy way back in the late 70s. We went over to see if we could help, and found our Sally. She and John quickly became fast friends, people whose word we could always trust.

Way back then, we always had a Christmas party, and the first year Sally and John attended it, all of our friends could see how special they both were. They loved to laugh, and they always made a splash when they were around. We ate, talked and played games at our parties, and that first year, Sally introduced us to a new game. We had ten couples at the party. One of the wives was blindfolded, and all the husbands sat in chairs in a large circle, with one of their pant legs rolled up. The blindfolded wife had to try to identify her husband by feeling all the men's forelegs. After each wife had a turn, the men would change places. It was hilarious, and most of the wives couldn't find her own husband.
Our parties have gone on for years, and the Spinolas have always been in attendance.

Some of our fondest memories are of the times Sally and John came over to our house for dinner. Although we have a large recipe file, most of the time, we served spaghetti with meat sauce and salad, because Sally adored my sauce. After dinner, we might play a game, or we might just sit around talking for hours. It was always such a pleasure to have them over. Sally loved all animals, and our dogs over the years have always taken to her. One of them used to insist on sitting on Sally's feet and leaning on her legs so Sally could pet her.

The last several years, Sally took regular naps, every day. Quite often I would think of calling her, but I had to check the clock to make sure it wasn't nap time. Since we lost her, I have often glanced at the clock and thought, "I can't call now, she's napping." It's hard to get over such ingrained habits.

A huge hole has been left in the hearts of everyone who loved Sally. I like to imagine her sitting on a cloud surrounded by all kinds of animals, and watching over her family.
