Salem William Joshua Levesque, a beloved brother, son, friend, and teacher, passed away on June 4th, 2024 in Washington. Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Salem touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
Salem was a philosopher, a teacher, and a friend. He was not only part of the staff at the University of Washington, Bothell, he was also a student pursuing additional graduate degrees. Salem was passionate about empowering people in digital arts, and poured himself in his work in education. His expertise in information technology and his dedication as a caretaker for his mother, Linda Dianne Gallatin, showcased his selflessness and unwavering love for his family. Salem's passion for philosophy and caring for others was evident in all aspects of his life.
Survived by his mother, Linda Dianne Gallatin, his sister, Nikki Holland Grodus (Kimmy), and his brother, Kenneth Thayne Levesque (Mary), Salem leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a plea for people to be kind to one another. His brother, Spencer Walter Levesque, who predeceased him, had a significant impact on his life as his closest friend.
Salem's love for cats, indie music, and playing the guitar brought joy to those who knew him. His willingness to connect with others, especially those who felt like outsiders, exemplified his caring nature and empathy. Whether he was busking with his guitar or engaging in deep philosophical discussions, Salem sought ways to express his unique personality.
Salem earned substantial grant money for the University of Washington, Bothell, showcasing his dedication to education and innovation. His gentle soul and genuine interest in the well-being of others will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we mourn the loss of Salem, let us remember the light he brought into our lives and the lessons he taught us through his actions and words. May his spirit live on in the memories we hold dear, and may his legacy inspire us to continue his legacy of kindness, compassion, and love.
