Ryan Dean Speckman, 59, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Monument Health in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Ryan was born on February 24, 1966, in Rapid City, where he was raised and attended Central High School, graduating in 1984. Following high school, he moved to Chicago to pursue culinary studies. He later relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where he worked as a pastry chef and caterer at the Fairmount Hotel. Eventually, Ryan returned to the Black Hills to be closer to his family.

A passionate cook and baker, Ryan enjoyed preparing meals and treats for friends and family. He also spent many hours tending a garden, growing fresh produce to incorporate into his culinary creations.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Ferber of Rapid City; brothers Randy (Toni) Speckman of Rapid City and Ricky (Stephanie) Speckman of Clermont, Florida; sisters Janel (Casey) Salazar of Rapid City and Lori (Tim) Lillard of Norfolk, Nebraska. Ryan is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Speckman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Moose Lodge 1137, 841 E. St. Patrick Street, Rapid City, SD.

Ryan loved animals, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
