I met Ryan’s mom (Patti)in elementary school. I remember stopping by her mom and dad’s house and Harry, Ryan’s grandpa was bragging about what a wonderful grandson Ryan was, he called him “The Judge”. Evidently Ryan always had a “serious” face on most of the time. I didn’t have the pleasure to meet Ryan. Patti has always been like a sister to me and I sure wish I could have gotten to know the “Johnston” family as well as I knew“Burke” family 💖.
My heart goes out to Patti, Kelly, River, Alice and Laura. Please know you are on my heart and in my prayers.

Greatly loved, deeply missed…your passing is like a gut punch with varying degrees depending on the day. Everything you did, you did with great intention. You were a sincere & genuine soul full of life, light, hope & dreams. You walked through this life with such ease & grace. You loved Kelly & River endlessly & effortlessly and immense joy radiated from you when I was around you 3.
I could’ve listened to you endlessly play music..I’ll miss Christmas Eve traditions of you in your GD ugly sweater, playing acoustic carols. I’ll never forget you moving my birthday concert from the bar to your living room because of Covid. Every time I hear “Mr. Charlie” I’ll always remember it was one of your fav songs, we’ll turn it up and dance in your memory. Seems like yesterday that we were sitting on a back porch in august, looking up at the Tahoe sky as you tried to learn “black clouds” on your guitar.
Thank you for never complaining and always letting me steal Kelly away for some Dead/JMayer related show and most of all, thank you for bringing immense joy to so many people..the ripple of people you have impacted are vast and unknown.
There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn & dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone- ❤️Ripple JG/RH/GD

I met Ryan in high school at South. My first memory is of giving him a ride home one day. When we got to his house he handed me his card… it had his phone number and a generous amount of cologne sprayed on it! Lol. We have laughed about that a lot over the years. Little did I know he would fall in love with my sister soon after that! I have so many memories of Ryan as he has been such a big part of our family for so long. Another incident which we laughed about is when we all lived together for awhile and I made him so mad when I left an almost empty jug of milk in the fridge… oops. Most of all I will remember him being a pseudo father figure for my oldest daughter Aryah when she was little. Her dad wasn’t in the picture and Ryan helped take care of her since we lived together and I specifically remember him saying he would be the one to walk her down the aisle someday. That meant so much to me. He was really young back then , but didn’t hesitate to be there for me and Aryah. He just always was so caring and had a way of making you feel special and important. Miss you forever Ryan. Still hard to wrap my head around that you are gone. Love you always❤️

To the family , also my friend Alice , I’d like to express my condolences and deepest sympathy for your loss. My heart goes out to all of you . Sweet dear friend Alice …as time passes we lose friends, family and those who have been our constants . It’s not something everyone can understand how difficult these type of losses can be . Know that as each year passes I will be there for you. Know that I love and support you now and always. Tish Walters
