Ryan's obituary
Ryan Bruce Coners of Garden City, NY passed away unexpectedly due to a tragic accident on July 1, 2025, at the age of 39. Ryan was an incredibly selfless servant of Christ. He found fulfillment and joy in being the hands and feet of Jesus, especially to the sick, lonely, outcast, and needy. He enjoyed live music, golfing, spending time in nature with friends, and the occasional cigar.
Ever the thrill seeker, Ryan had a passion for adventure and trying new things, never backing down from a challenge. One of his greatest passions was Northern Frontier Camp, the boys’ summer camp he attended as a child and where he continued to serve into adulthood. During past work weekends at Northern Frontier, Ryan’s talent for fixing anything and everything shined through. His dedication and devotion to Northern Frontier truly exemplified what Ryan strived for in life: finding adventure-packed, action-filled experiences that drew him closer to God.
After living in Colorado/California in his 20s, Ryan felt called to return home to New York, where he could be near to the people he loved most—his family. As the eldest child and the first grandson in the family, Ryan loved his entire family fiercely. Known for his tenderheartedness and compassion, he cared faithfully for his aging grandparents just down the block in their final years.
A natural handyman, Ryan honed his skills as a locksmith beside his father for a number of years. More recently, he found his niche as a management trainee at Riverhead Building Supply Corporation.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Bruce and Christine Coners; his brothers, Jeffrey and Eric Coners; his sister, Christa (Christopher) Cioffi; his nephew and niece who adored their “Uncle Ry Ry”; and his wife, Christina Cairo.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12th at Centerpoint Church (98 Jerusalem Avenue, Massapequa NY 11758). Visitation with the family will happen between 3:00 and 4:00pm, with the service at 4-5pm.
*There have been no changes to the service at Centerpoint Church since the initial announcement.
The family will have a private burial .
