Ryan's obituary
Ryan Lee Bedore was born on November 14, 1978, and passed away on December 20, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with liver failure. He passed peacefully under the exceptional care of the nonprofit Cedar Valley Hospice at the Hospice Home.
Raised in Waterloo, Iowa, he spent most of his life there and remained deeply connected to his community. He worked in the automotive industry for many years, where his strong work ethic and hands-on skills were well known and respected.
He loved to cook and smoke meats, and some of his favorite moments were spent gathering with friends and sharing meals. A huge Chicago Bears fan, he rarely missed a game and enjoyed cheering them on just as much as he enjoyed good food and good company. He believed strongly in learning from mistakes and was always willing to help raise and guide kids in the community, offering lessons drawn from his own life experiences.
He was incredibly proud of his daughters, Marcela Bedore and Malea Bedore. Though he once hoped for a son, he took great pride in raising strong, resilient daughters, teaching them life skills, independence, and how to be tough in a challenging world. He also cherished his role as a grandfather to Alayah Taylor.
He is survived by his parents, James Lee Bedore and Dianne Bedore; his daughters, Marcela Bedore and Malea Bedore; his granddaughter, Alayah Taylor; and his siblings, Niki Bedore and James Doland.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring, with details to be announced at a later time.
In lieu of funeral pieces, flowers, plants, gifts or memorials may be directed to the family for distribution through the Crossroads Hy-Vee Floral Department 319-291-6233 located at 1422 Flammang Dr, Waterloo, IA 50702
He will be remembered for his resilience, generosity, love of family, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
