Ruth's obituary
Ruth Kay Jones (Riley) began her earthly journey in Newark, Ohio September 13,1939 born to Theresa and James Riley. She spent her early years in Newark and attended St Francis Desales Highschool. She met her husband Dale Jones her senior year and they were married November 13, 1957.
They moved to Washington in 1970 for Dale’s work and raised their children there. Ruth was co-owner of many home businesses with her husband. They raised top winning Irish setters in the 70’s, tame exotic parrots in the 80’s and attempted many other numerous ventures along the way. Including delivering her grandson Josiah. She was so proud to put her name on his birth certificate.
Through the 90’s and into the early 2000’s they traveled the United States enjoying their final years together meeting and befriending many people along the way. They spent 48 years together until her husband’s death in August 2006. It was on these adventures that Ruth discovered her gift of giving hugs. She continued the use of that gift at her church, By His Word Christian Center, and with anyone who would let her until her passing on July 21, 2022.
Ruth was preceded in death and greeted in heaven by her mother- Theresa Riley, father- James Riley, stepmother- Mala Riley, brothers Fred Riley and William (Bill) Riley, Sister- Margaret (Mollie) Overbey, and her adoring husband Dale Jones.
Ruth is survived by her sister Teresa (Sis) Grigsby, brother Patrick(Pat) Riley of Newark, Ohio, many in laws that called her mom and grandma and her legacy.
