Ruth was born on August 17, 1935, to Archie and Martha (Westphal) Haukom in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from South High School in 1953 and married John “Jack” Leroy Mobeck on August 31, 1957, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Ruth and Jack had 4 children (Kim, Greg, Blake and Jon “Jeep”) and spent most of their married life in Blaine and Ham Lake until Jack passed in 1994. Ruth spent most of the rest of her years in St. Louis Park and Hopkins.
After starting her career with IDS (Investors Diversified Services) in Minneapolis in the late 1950’s, Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for Penny’s Super Market in Blaine, MN for nearly two decades while raising her 4 children with Jack. She later served lunches for elementary school students in Hopkins, MN. After finally retiring in her late 70’s, she volunteered for Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, where she delivered balloons and flowers to patients.
She loved to spend time with family and friends playing cards and laughing. Her faith was her guiding light, and she treasured her church families at Peace Lutheran Church in Blaine, MN throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in East Bethel, MN from 1978-1993 and Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins in recent years.
