Ruth's obituary

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 87, of Washington D.C., passed away on September 18, 2020  after along battle with pancreatic cancer.

Ruth was born on March 15, 1933 to Nathan Bader and Celia Amster  Bader  in Brooklyn. After graduating from James Madison High School in 1949, she went on to study Arts at Cornell University.

After graduation, she landed her first job as a professor for Rutgers Law School, kicking off a 27 year career in the Supreme Court.

In 1954, she met Martin David, and they wed in 1954, going on to have 2 children, Jane Carol Ginsburg, and James Steven Ginsburg. When she was not working on the court, Ruth spent her time being an advocate for gender and equality rights. She especially had a love for opera.

Ruth was predeceased by her father Nathan, her mother Celia, her sister, Marilyn, and her husband Martin. She is survived by her children Joan, and James.

The family requests that flowers be sent to the National Cancer Society. There will be a funeral service held at 9: 30 A.M. on September 29, at the Great Hall at the Supreme Court where she had worked for 27 years Burial will follow next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. . Shiva will be held at [10:00 A.M, September 25, Washington D.C
