Ruth and I met in our sophomore year . It was an instant friendship. This friendship turned into a sisterhood.  Our interests were the same.  The great out doors. We slept under the stars and laughed and talked all night.  Our dreams of our future.   Teenagers, we talked about, boyfriends, concerts and traveling.

We climbed to the top of the Red Rocks in Colorado., walked in the ocean in San Francisco,  would go up in the local canyons with our sleeping bags a bag of chips a couple of sandwiches ( no tent) and be mezmerized with all the sky offered in the stars .

Our sisterhood only grew stronger.  Ruth became a mother I was blessed to be a God mother.  We lived together several times. The three of us Ruth, Heather and myself .

We both got married and our friendship stayed strong. No matter where we lived we always traveled to catch up on life .

I know Ruth's hardest journey was when Bill passed away.  I made many trips down to Arizona in the past 30 some odd years.  In the past 7 years I went down to be with my sister, to listen to help her through her days and nights.  We laughed at the crazy things we did in our youth, the awesome concerts. We listened to music and we danced.  She taught me how to quilt with passion.  We would float in the pool splash water at each other and laugh some more. Wed sit in the warm early morning sun and reflect on life. He shared more than just a friendship we shared life, Ruth was my sister by choice.

I have add Ruth and Gingers big adventure. We flew up to Oregon to visit Doug and meet his wife Lisa.  They took us crabbing and Ruth got to pull in the crab box. She was all smiles we continued our vacation down the Oregon / California coast.  Ruth got to stand among the redwoods and the sequoias. That was a bucket list wish.  We got to enjoy the small towns of northern California walk on the beaches .  We laughed at had a wonderful time.  We saw miles and miles of vineyards.  What fun we had .

I had the awesome opportunity to love and have a relationship with Heather. To love and enjoy Britt and to meet Ruth's second granddaughter Abby when she was barely walking. Then another opportunity to meet her great grandson Maddox.  Last year I had  opportunity to meet two more granddaughters Olivia and Madeline and Abby all grown up.  Full circle. Ruth had bragging rights for sure.

I miss Ruth everyday .  We had a rare friendship.  We were sisters by choice.
