Ruth's obituary

Ruth Cohen was born October 30, 1929. She lived a long and joyful life for 91 years. Many things brought her great joy, one of which was the great relationship she had with her fleshly sister Willie Mae Cloud. Later in life she became a mother and enjoyed the excitement and challenges that came along with being a parent. As life went on there came a moment when life took a great turn for her. Ruth’s closest friend, her sister introduced her to a new life, A spiritual life. After much analyzing and study of the scriptures Ruth Cohen dedicated her life in service to Jehovah and symbolized it by water baptism in June of 1957. She would later meet the love of her life Jesse Cohen and they would go on to marry in September of 1960. 1961 completed the blending of their families with their last child. Ruth and Jesse would continue to serve Jehovah faithfully together and even after Jesse’s passing Ruth continued to raise her children under the guidelines of Jehovah. Although she wasn’t able to serve as a full-time minister, she looked for opportunities to increase her service throughout the year by vacation pioneering which is now known as auxiliary pioneering and traveling to different convention cities and headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses included Warwick, Patterson, and Brooklyn Bethel in New York city. In her service to Jehovah, she was able to assist and encourage many to become dedicated servants of Jehovah. She enjoyed being surrounded by family especially her sister’s children Gerald (Dottie), Alden (Miriam), Keith (Nancy), Denise (James) and Andre (Hillary) as she affectionately referred to them as “The Clouds.” Either traveling to Charlotte, NC to see them or them coming to Savannah, GA to visit her they could always expect to enjoy a fried shrimp dinner and an intense game of cards each visit.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Jesse Cohen, Willie Mae Cloud (sister), Larcenia Cohen (daughter) and Leon Cohen (son). Ruth is survived by her children Deborah Blunt, Gus Tyrone Chisholm, Vanlyn Cohen Johnson and Larlee (Louise) Cohen, Her Grandchildren Gwangia Hudson, Shaquel Johnson, Laree Oldacre, Larlee Cohen Jr., Her Great-Grandchildren Kaila Hudson, Tyrus Hudson and her Great Great-Grandchild Harley Izzard. A host of friends and loved ones from around the world.
