Rusty and I worked together at USFilter. We shared so many great memories both in and out of work. I will remember Rusty fondly and our time together was too short. Our games together on the softball field were epic. When Rusty made contact with a pitch it was a different sound. He could crush a softball. He also had one of the best arms I have ever seen. His throws hurt many a hand.

I pray for his two daughters , his brother Ed and the entire family. To a life lived well and full, rest well my friend. You will never be forgotten.

I just remember him fondly at Cindy’s family get-togethers. He just glowed with pride when talking about Christina and Hanna. They were the apple of his eye!

Prayers of peace go out to his daughters, his Mom, Cindy, Eddie and family.

I'm so saddened to hear this. I worked with Rusty while at MEMTEC/USFilter/PALL and enjoyed  his humor. He will be missed by so many.

Grew up together, elementary, Jr. and Sr High. Competitive athlete and dear friend. Came over to my home a many a time, and enjoyed my mother’s lasagna. Wonderful times in the Bury and in OC. Could go on and on.

God bless my brother Rusty!

Wayne Keen class of 1979!

I remember Rusty from our high school years at JMB. He was 3 years older than me and played football with my brother Joe. Ed was my age. I ran into Rusty around 2009, 2010 and dated for awhile. He was so much fun and crazy funny. We did some really crazy things . We somewhat kept in touch thru the years and I last heard from him back in April. He wanted me to come see him in PA but I couldn't and now I am so sorry I didn't. I am still in disbelief and my heart is broken. RIP My friend and prayers to his daughters. 🙏💔

I worked with Rusty at K & L for many yrs. Rusty was a great funny man. Alway kept us laughing.  He adored his 2 girls.

I am glad I had the chance to crossed paths in life with Rusty.

The memories I will cherish.  💙

Many stories over the years with Rusty. He was always strong and fit. He even won the Best Legs contest as a sophomore in HS! His Nice to See you hugs were totally genuine but could take the air right out of you!

He lived with us for a couple of years when we decided to move across the bridge to begin our new careers. Never a dull moment! He loved to spread peanut butter over our new puppy's mouth so he could laugh as he tried to lick it off!

He married Mary on our back deck at our house in Columbia MD. What a hoot! Of course the cops were called due to so much noise!

We went on a cruise with them but I don't have any pictures of him because his Dare on this trip didn't work out. He ate the flower on the table and was sick for several days after. He definitely regretted that one.

My heart goes out to all of Rusty's family and friends. He has been a big part of our life for more than 50 years. We will miss you and all of the laughter. I'm praying that you have found the peace that you have been searching for. God rest your soul in eternity.

One time dad took me and Christina fishing in old ocean city near the bridge. We had gone fishing with him before, but we were used to seeing the colorful lures. This time, dad picked up some worms to use as bait. Christina and I didn’t think much of it at first. When dad went to put one of the worms on the hook, we lost it. We felt bad for the worm and didn’t want him to hurt it. I’m pretty sure we both cried. He was so frustrated but was trying his best to be gentle with us. Eventually, we got over it enough to fish for a while with him. I don’t think we caught a single thing that day.
Rusty worked with someone who had great seats behind home plate to the Orioles games.  Knowing that Mike Alford and I both love the O's, Rusty got us three tickets to the last game of the season.  Once we got seated, Rusty announced to everyone in the stands around us that he would take care of any foul balls hit near us.  As luck would have it, a screaming foul ball cleared the netting and came right at Rusty.  He leaned over to grab it, but it skipped off the steps and hit him squarely in the chin!  If that wasn't embarrassment enough, an elderly lady sitting behind us said that Rusty should buy the next round!  More fun times with our brother.

We had a special gift from Rusty this past Thanksgiving in 2023.  He wanted to spend Thanksgiving with us and we played a round of golf, went to a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game, watched the Dallas Cowboys football crush the Washington Commanders (which Rusty fondly called them the Deadskins), shot pool in the basement and playing our slot machines.  I went upstairs for 2 min and when I went downstairs he had our Dallas Cowboys football helmet on playing the slot machines.  He turned around with that big grin wearing that helmet and I'm trying to find that picture!  We had an absolute blast with him that long weekend and looking back now that was truly a gift he gave us.

Continuing with Rusty's athletic prowess, we were fishing one day with my cousin Phil Watson.  Phil's neighbor had brought over an old clipping about Rusty from the Daily Times.  It seems Rusty had struck out 17 of the 18 batters he faced (we played 6 innings in Little League)!  When Phil showed it to Rusty he said "Yes I remember that game.  I also went 4 for 4 with 3 home runs"!  Rusty was only 9 at the time and that year he won the Batting Title.  What makes this even more impressive is back then Little League was ages 8 - 12, so he was playing against guys 3 years older than him.  And even though he was the best hitter in Little League, an old rule kept him from making the All-Star team because you had to at least be 10 years old.  The older guys sure got lucky that year!

Anyone who grew up with Rusty knew that he was a stud athlete.  I always wondered why he wanted to hang around with me since I was such a nerd, but we became great friends anyway.  During one Pony League game, Rusty was pitching and I was batting.  He gave me a motion to let me know what he was going to throw me, he took something off of it so I would have a chance, and sure enough I smacked the heck out of it.  Well not really as it slowly rolled right back to Rusty.  He ran beside me all the way to first base laughing and telling me that was the best he could do to help me.  Just before I touched first he tagged me out.  But I didn't care, I had made contact off the best pitcher in the league!  Thanks my friend!!

Rusty and I loved to troll for trophy rockfish (40"+) on the Waterboy II.  After much pleading, I finally convinced Captain Pat Scott (see picture of Rusty, Pat, and I) to join us and teach me how to hone my craft.  Unfortunately the morning he joined us, we all had been "over-served" the night before and were in no shape to learn anything.  Except Rusty that is!  Although Pat was not happy dragging a sorry crew around the bay, Rusty was non-stop joking, doing Dave Chapelle skits, laughing, and making it fun.  When we got back to the dock, Pat said he wasn't interested in fishing with me again...unless Rusty was there!
