I’m so sorry to learn Rusty passed. We worked together at NCR in Liberty SC. Last I talked to him was in May of 2024.  He usually messaged me after getting off work anywhere between 1-2am. I’ve looked for him via fb and messenger since our last chat . Rusty was a good friend during the years we worked together. Our last chat he said he’d like to come back down to SC for a visit and see how things have changed here. Rusty was a sweet and valued friend. To his daughters, he talked about you both a lot and loved you immensely. I pray he is Resting In Peace

Tomorrow we will gather for Rusty’s celebration of life at DJ and Cindy’s house.  This was one of Rusty‘s favorite places to gather with friends when he came to town, and it will be very different without him there.  Rusty was larger than life and it seems so unreal that he is gone.  He was a nut, a confidant, an awesome Dad and a true friend!  Every time we got together, the conversation would always turn to Hannah and Christina and how well they were doing and how proud he was of them - he loved them so much.  I mourn the fact that he will not be there for future weddings, and potential grandkids, as I know he would make an awesome grandfather.  I will dearly miss my brother from a different mother, our conversations and our incredible friendship.  Diane and I send our deepest condolences to Hannah, Christina, Ed, Dawn, Cindy and Barbara.  Love you Rusty, rest in peace my brother.

It hurts deeply that Rusty is gone but I have no doubt we won't see him again. Sending love to all.

Rusty, thank you for being there for me as my uncle, especially when I needed a male figure in my life most. From the small things like making me the best glasses of strawberry milk (one of my earliest memories) to taking me to the Salisbury mall on my birthday which made me feel incredibly special (teenager).  For also trusting me as a young adult to take care of your girls one summer when I literally had no experience with kids.  LOL *I love you Christina and Hannah!* Above all, thank you for every bear hug. I will hold all the good times closest to my heart.

Love, Britt

Rusty and I became friends decades ago.    I remember times at the beach with our families when the kids were little.  We talked for hours about whatever the topic of the day was.  He was so easy to talk to.   He was a very intelligent, hard working, pull yourself up by your own bootstraps kind of guy who dearly loved his girls.   We will all miss him.
Rusty was unique!! When he was at an event, you always knew it was going to be a good time. The thing that stands out the most, though, is how much he loved Christie and Hannah, his "squirrels". They both brought so much light into his life. I have a very happy memory of us all being on vacation in Ocean City, staying at my parent's condo. Christie and Katie were about 5-6 years old. He face painted both of them with black and white paint to look like zebras! It was adorable. He always had such zeal for life. He was loved by so many people. May he finally be in peace.

A Personal Prayer from Rusty’s sister

Dear Lord

Give me a sweet melody

Through you

And only through you can we find truth and be set free.

Flowers bloom and flowers wilt.

God’s Grace is divine.

Keep faith

Always trust Him

Never stop loving

The devil is alive

He is at our doorstep every step of the way

Our earthly walk can be treacherous

Let it be known

Focus

Focus on the word of God

Be a child of God

Be spared from this wicked world

TODAY

This prayer is for all of us.

A peace offering.

A poem of comfort when we are in need of His word.

Remember

He never forgets us. He created us. He is our protector. Our Father. No truth is greater. He will restore us from our grief. Believe and you will receive peace and comfort in troubling times, during sadness and sorrow. He is the answer always and forever.

(In unison) In Jesus name we pray.

God Bless!

Story about how cool Rusty always was;  I think it was around 1995 or 96 and we visited Mary and Rusty up in Perry Hall, I was just in my early teens and we stayed because I had some event or flight in baltimore, my Mom and I had a great time on the visit.  I was just getting into real music, grunge/rock had been the fad of the era, my knowledge was limited, and we were listening to some great music, Rusty was like this is Temple of the Dog (which if you know, you know wasnt mainstream at the time); a mix of some of the most famous bands of that era as a side project. I surely didnt know at the time, but Rusty did!  He loved great music, especially all sorts of rock.  Whenever I hear that album I will think of him! He knew what was up! When I was real young - like in the 80s he had Some St. Pauli Girl's beer posters - with the german octoberfest model's, I think thats when I was certain I liked girls! Ha, he was always a good time! Throughout the years the practical jokes blurr together - but he would often provide a laugh in the younger years, messing with his mom or his sister at a get together at our grandparents, he provided lots of laughs to most of us ha!
Hannah & Christina - Like all, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rusty's passing. Many have said it before, but he truely loved nothing more than the two of you. Any time we spoke, you all would come up and how excited he was for what you were both doing, or that he had just see you both, etc, he truely loved being your father. He will always be with you, we will all keep his memories with us, I know we will all miss his wholesome laugh! We are thinking of you all - much Love - Kirby, Melissa & the boys
