Russell's obituary

Russell Johnson
Russell (Pap) Lowell Johnson Jr., 82, born April 2, 1936 in JEANNETTE, Pennsylvania, to the late Russell Lowell Johnson and late Adolphine (Raiviart) Johnson, passed away at home on August 17, 2018. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn M. Davis; and a nephew, Glenn F. Davis. Russell is survived by his son, Russell Lowell Johnson III (Betty) of Irwin; daughters, Rae Ann Johnson (Keith) of Orlando Fla; and Diane L. Plevelich (David) of Jeannette; six grandchildren, David W. Leighty (Susan) of Orlando Fla; Jodi L. Johnson of Irwin; Ashley T. Plevelich of Trafford; Stephanie R. Johnson of Crabtree; Nathan R. Leighty of Orlando Fla; and Sarah J. Johnson of Irwin; eight great-grandchildren, Kaleyse A. Reeves; Devin Leighty; Jordaynne T. Johnson, Aidan R. Showalter; Annabell J. Good; Nicolette R. Leighty; Jaxson R. Johnson; and Emberly R. Kennedy; two nieces and two nephews.
Before retiring Russell worked as an electrical tester with the former Westinghouse East Pittsburgh plant. During semi-retirement he worked at a small machine shop in Wilkesbarre Pa. but upon returning to Jeannette he enjoyed working at Jeannette’s Salvation Army until 2007. He served both Rescue 14 and the Adamsburg Fire Department as a volunteer in the 1970’s. Most days you would most likely catch him sitting on the front porch of his ancestral home on Pine Street. Russell often wandered over to his (now deceased) neighbor and beloved nephew’s backyard picnic table to have a beer and shoot the breeze or to play cards. He spent many enjoyable hours teasing and sharing his various gadgets with all his grandchildren. In spite of ongoing health issues he made it to 82 and was very proud of that. He will be greatly missed.
There will be no visitation and a private interment set at a later date. There will be a picnic to celebrate his life in the style he loved. For those who wish to attend please e-mail (dreamndee@gmail.com) for details.
