He is preceded by his mother, Peggy Ann Ramsey, his great nephew, Landen Keith Banks, his brother, Robert Keith Banks and his father, E.B. Banks. Rusty was born in Shreveport, LA on June 27th, 1962 to proud parents, Peggy Ann Ramsey and E.B. Banks.
He was raised in Bossier City, LA and is a graduate of Parkway High School. Later in his life he settled in Shreveport, to get closer to his relatives. He owned and operated two successful undertakings, a drywall company and a carpet cleaning business. Rusty lived by and taught his children the rule of, “Always be the boss, not an employee.”
Rusty loved numerous things, but his momma's cooking would surpass them all. Introduced to him by his brother Tracy, disc golf became Rusty’s favorite hobby. An avid disc golfer, Rusty was a member of the Shreveport Bossier Disc Golf Union and played with many great people in the disc golf community. He was a regular at many casinos, famous for winning at the Texas Hold'em tables, and playing in numerous televised tournaments outside the state. During the football season, you could find him fussing at the TV over the Dallas Cowboys, but also at the Saints, because he was loyal to his momma’s team too.
Family and friends will always remember him as a good, honest man, a loving father, a caring uncle and a very proud Pawpaw. A devoted best friend, loyal and always there to lend a hand in case of need, but for the most part, he will be remembered as a “Momma's boy.” He never met a stranger, and could talk to anyone he met like they had known each other their entire lives. Rusty was unique, nobody could get close to his character. His memory will always be filled with laughter, happy moments and love. His family and friends will miss him very much.
Instead of flowers, the family asks that the memory of Rusty to be kept alive. Rusty's celebration of life will take place at the Ford Disc Golf Course on June 11, 2023. The family prepares a memorial round of disc golf, followed by a reunion to share memories, laughter and happy tears.
