Ruby Carolyn Graham McDonald
September 27, 1943 - September 19, 2022
Ruby “Carolyn” Graham McDonald, passed away peacefully the evening of September 19th, 2022 in Galveston, Tx. just prior to her 79th birthday. Her battle with serious medical issues in the last few years showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite her ongoing illness, she came out a hero as she stayed strong and faithful until the end. Carolyn’s infectious smile, enduring personality, sweet spirit and giving heart was loved by so many.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Luther Graham and Edith Graham Marsh; sister, Martha Graham Webb Stevenson; brothers, Johnny Graham and Darrin Graham; and her in-laws John William McDoanld and Juanita Roberta Pridemore McDonald.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, James William McDonald. They spent their years raising family in Houston, Rockdale, and Burleson Texas. Carolyn spent her working years in accounting as well as in Rockdale ISD and Crowley ISD. She retired early so that she could spend more time with her growing grandchildren. Carolyn’s love and joy for them is evident today by the close bond each of them have shared with her.
Jim and Carolyn moved to Schicke Point near Palacios, Texas in 2016, where they enjoyed fellowshipping with and hosting family and friends. Jim and Carolyn kept busy the last several years by visiting family and friends, playing dominos, gardening, golfing, hunting and fishing.
Carolyn is also survived by her children; son, James Michael McDonald and wife Eleonora Fortin McDonald of Friendswood, Tx.; daughter, Cynthia Carol McDonald Bills of San Antonio, Tx.; her grandchildren; Cody Bills of Sterling, VA, Erica McDonald Miller and husband Ryan of Savannah, GA, Evan McDonald and wife Courtney of Friendswood, Tx.,Cailey Bills of Aledo, Tx., Ethan McDonald of Conroe, Tx., Chris Bills of San Antonio, Tx., Elena McDonald of Friendswood, Tx.; her great-grandson Everett McDonald; brothers, Jerry Graham of Bremond, Tx. and Richard Graham of Katy, Tx.; sister-in -laws, Kay Glass Graham of Pensacola, Fl. and Colleen McDonald of Honaunau, HI.; brother-in-law, John F. McDonald and Carmen of Houston, Tx., along with many adored nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
Carolyn lived by being kind to all and walking daily in her Christian faith and values. Carolyn’s life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God forgave you in Christ”
In her final days, Carolyn visited with many family and friends, her wish was for all of us to: “Live a Great Life”
Her Celebration of Life will be held with family and friends at Schicke Pointe, Texas on October 8th, 202
