Ruben's obituary

Ruben Mohan went home to Jesus on January 13th, 2022 at age 73.

Ruben was born to Emmanuel and Toona Mohan on December 6th, 1948 in Trinidad. He was 1 of 10 children. He attended Lenore Hindu School and Furlong College. Growing up, Ruben enjoyed playing cricket, football (soccer), going to the beach, playing billiards, card games and attending church.

Ruben met his wife, Khaloutie (Girlzin) in 1977. Shortly after, he graduated Nursing School and started working as an RN at Port of Spain General Hospital. They married on January 1st, 1979 and went on to have 2 children, Roger and Marsha. Ruben enjoyed family gatherings at his home in Enterprise. He and Girlzin would make some of the best barbecue and homemade ice cream. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on his home.

In 1993, Ruben had the choice to move to NY or Florida to continue his nursing career. He decided on Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he joined the staff at Broward General Hospital. Shortly after moving, the family found Lighthouse Church of God as their place of fellowship and growth. The members there became like family to them. In 2011, the family expanded with the addition of his son in law, Thomas. However the most anticipated and welcomed event was that of his granddaughter Alayna. In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, Ruben also loved serving at his church, gardening and growing his own fruits and vegetables, going to the beach, playing with his grandchild and cooking. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

Ruben joins his parents, Emmanuel and Toona, his brothers and sisters Sonny, Rajpati, Wilma and Harry in Heaven. He is survived by his wife Khaloutie, his children Roger and Marsha, his granddaughter Alayna, his sisters Mildred, Tara, Susanne, Sheila and his brother Winston. He is uncle to 14 nieces and nephews.
